How much does the 2019 Hyundai Veloster cost?

Prices have softened 10.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 180 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Veloster a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Veloster earns 5/5 from users and 8/10 from our experts. It stands out as a sporty daily driver that still keeps everyday usability in focus, and its distinctive hatchback-meets-coupe shape and 3-door layout make it feel unlike a conventional small car.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It works well if you want something fun and functional rather than a plain commuter, and the completely redesigned 2019 model year gives it a fresh, unconventional feel. 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Veloster reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Veloster’s appeal comes from its balance of practicality and driving enjoyment, and the expert review describes it as a sporty daily driver that’s both fun and functional. The standard 2.0-liter engine is naturally aspirated, which keeps the base setup straightforward, while the turbocharged versions add more power for buyers who want extra performance.

The expert review also notes that the car’s standard equipment is strong for the class, and the base model includes helpful driver-assistance features. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up wear from harder driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Veloster?

At 61.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the Veloster’s shape creates blind spots, it’s also worth checking that the driver-assistance features and visibility aids are working properly. Focus on overall condition and equipment level, since the trim you choose can change both comfort and safety content.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.0 trim comes quite well equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, heated power-folding side mirrors, a rear spoiler, and a lower rear diffuser. It also includes a reversing camera and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the 2.0 Premium adds 18-inch wheels, a wide sunroof, heated front seats, automatic temperature control, wireless charging, voice recognition, push-button start, an Infinity sound system, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The Turbo Ultimate adds rain-sensing wipers, a 2-tone black roof, full-leather seating, navigation, HD Radio, and a head-up display.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. Turbo trims use a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, while the Veloster N uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with at least 250 hp and up to 275 hp.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, driver-attention warning, a reversing camera, tire-pressure monitoring, and a driver’s-side blind-spot mirror. The 2.0 Premium, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate replace the blind-spot mirror with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and the Turbo Ultimate adds pedestrian detection to its forward-collision avoidance system.
• Infotainment: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2.0 Premium and Turbo Ultimate move up to an 8-inch touchscreen and add wireless charging, while the Turbo Ultimate also includes navigation and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0 with the 7-speed automatic returns 27 mpg city, 34 highway, and 30 combined. With the manual transmission, it returns 25 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined. The Turbo with the 7-speed DCT returns 28 mpg city, 34 highway, and 30 combined.

Which 2019 Hyundai Veloster trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0, 2.0 Premium, Turbo R-Spec, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0: This is the value pick if you want the Veloster’s distinctive design and core tech without stretching your budget. It already includes a reversing camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the standard driver-assistance features, so it gives you the essentials in a well-equipped package.
• 2.0 Premium: This is the best-value upgrade if you want more comfort and convenience. It adds heated front seats, automatic temperature control, wireless charging, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, and a better audio setup, making it the most balanced choice for many shoppers.
• Turbo R-Spec: This is the least expensive way to get the turbocharged engine. It gives you the stronger powertrain and adds performance-focused hardware like Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tires, a B&M Racing sport shifter, and racing pedals, but it gives up some comfort features.
• Turbo: This trim restores much of the comfort content from the 2.0 Premium while adding the turbo engine and more upscale touches like a perforated-leather-wrapped steering wheel and driver-seat power lumbar support.
• Turbo Ultimate: This is the top choice if you want the most equipment. It adds the most premium features, including full leather, navigation, a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, and the upgraded forward-collision avoidance system with pedestrian detection.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the 2.0 Premium, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert instead of the base model’s blind-spot mirror.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Veloster?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 180 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,698, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Veloster's resale value?

The current average of $11,737 sits slightly below last year's $13,179.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, because you may be entering at a lower cost basis than earlier shoppers. For a future seller, it also means the market has already adjusted downward, so condition, mileage, and equipment level will matter more when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Veloster safe?

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, a tire-pressure monitoring system, a driver’s-side blind-spot mirror, forward-collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention warning. The 2.0 Premium, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate upgrade to blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Turbo Ultimate adds pedestrian detection to its forward-collision avoidance system.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Veloster or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, you can still shop carefully within this year’s market and focus on the best-maintained examples.
