How much does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 12.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,782 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 4.85/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its value, safety features, comfort, spacious interior, and ride quality. That lines up with its role as a practical crossover that sits between compact and midsize SUVs, so you get a useful middle ground if you want everyday versatility without moving up to a larger SUV. With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with particular appreciation for the Santa Fe’s value and comfort over time. The expert evaluation reinforces that it is a solid, well-rounded crossover, and the cost-effectiveness commentary supports the idea that it is built to be taken seriously as a long-term family vehicle. If you buy used, the main ownership risk is that some listings may have history or wear issues, so condition and maintenance records matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 72.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and safety systems work as expected. Because this model is often bought for family use, interior wear, electronics, and overall maintenance history are worth close attention.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE trim comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, high-beam assist, power heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, manual seats, and remote keyless entry. Higher trims add fog lights, power seating, heated front seats, push-button start, parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual automatic climate control, a premium sound system, full LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, leather seating, rain-sensing wipers, memory settings, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited and Ultimate can be had with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is described as sluggish, while the turbo is praised for strong acceleration. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and rear cross-path detection. Safe Exit Assist is also standard. The content does not call out trim-level safety gaps.
• Infotainment: The base SE gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a USB port. SEL and above add satellite radio, HD Radio, and BlueLink with Alexa integration. The Ultimate upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, and wireless charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.4-liter version is listed at 22 mpg city, 29 highway, 25 combined. The all-wheel-drive turbo version is listed at 19 mpg city, 24 highway, 21 combined.

Which 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value pick if you want the lowest entry price and a strong standard equipment list. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, LED daytime running lights, and Hyundai’s Smart Sense safety suite. It is the best-value trim if you want the essentials without paying for extras.
• SEL: This trim adds the comfort upgrades many shoppers want most, including fog lights, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and push-button start. It is a smart step up if you want a more pleasant daily driver without jumping too far in price.
• SEL Plus: This is the sweet spot for many buyers because it adds 18-inch wheels, parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual automatic climate control, and the 630-watt Infinity audio system. If you want the best blend of features and value, this is the trim to target.
• Limited: This trim moves the Santa Fe into a more premium lane with full LED head- and taillights, mirror-integrated turn signals, satin chrome door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seating. It is the right choice if you want a more upscale cabin and exterior presentation.
• Ultimate: This is the top trim and brings rain-sensing wipers, memory settings for the front seats, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, wireless charging, and the larger 8-inch touchscreen. Choose it if you want the most comfort and convenience features available.

Smart Sense is standard, and Safe Exit Assist is included across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,782 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,852, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,852 sits slightly below last year's $16,959.

That price movement suggests the Santa Fe has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the near term. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should remain easier to move than rougher or poorly documented ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai Smart Sense is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and rear cross-path detection. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, and it ties the rear child locks to blind-spot monitoring so the rear doors won’t open if a vehicle is approaching from the side. That gives you a strong safety package even on lower trims.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it brings a strong standard safety suite and easy-to-use technology in a value-focused crossover package.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,535, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $14,852 average.
• It is a bargain-minded, spacious, and dependable family SUV.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $16,563, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,852 average.
• It adds useful updates like a rear-seat reminder and an available camera-based blind-spot view system.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, safety, and everyday usefulness, the 2019 is the one to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense if you want the newer updates and are willing to pay more.
