How much does the 2019 Honda Insight cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 180 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Honda Insight a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Insight earns 5/5 from owners and 7.8/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

You get a practical compact hybrid with a traditional 4-door sedan layout, plenty of interior and trunk space, and styling that reads as more attractive and upscale than many hybrids. It is a strong fit if you want an efficient everyday car that still feels conventional rather than quirky.

The market also shows 35.0% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Honda Insight reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Insight is presented as a practical, efficient sedan with a conventional layout, and its expert evaluation emphasizes that it is built for everyday use rather than novelty. Its hybrid system is described as traditional and straightforward, with a gasoline engine, electric drive motor, and CVT working together in a familiar way.

The performance notes also point to a car that can feel lively while still prioritizing fuel economy, which is a good sign for day-to-day dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car has been maintained well enough to avoid expensive surprises in a hybrid that is meant to do a lot of commuting work.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Insight?

At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in any collision or shows uneven wear. Focus on overall condition, because the Insight’s appeal depends on it feeling like a clean, efficient daily driver rather than a compromised commuter car.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the simplest version, while EX and Touring add more convenience and comfort equipment. The Touring stands out with 17-inch aluminum wheels, leather power-adjustable seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a power sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, fog lights, a 10-speaker premium sound system, navigation with real-time traffic, and Honda Link subscription services with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Powertrain: The Insight uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, an electric drive motor powered by a lithium-ion battery, and an electronic CVT. It is a traditional hybrid that you do not plug in, and it is described as lively while still focused on fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every Insight includes a reversing camera, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. EX and Touring add LaneWatch, which shows the right-side blind spot through a camera, but it does not provide a traditional radar-based blind-spot system or rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The Insight uses an 8-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, Bluetooth pairing is easy, and the Touring adds Honda Link Security, Honda Link Remote, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The LX and EX trims are rated at 52 mpg in combined driving, while the Touring is rated at 48 mpg in combined driving. In testing, the Touring averaged 38.9 mpg on a mountainous loop.

Which 2019 Honda Insight trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Insight is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the Insight’s core hybrid efficiency and standard safety equipment without paying for extras. It gives you the basic sedan package and the strongest efficiency rating in the lineup.
• EX: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of equipment and value. It adds LaneWatch and keeps the more efficient setup, making it the most sensible middle ground for many shoppers.
• Touring: This is the fully loaded choice if you want the most comfort, tech, and convenience features. It adds the premium audio, navigation, leather, sunroof, heated seats, and connected services, but it is the least efficient trim.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while LaneWatch is added on EX and Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Insight?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 180 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,110, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Insight's resale value?

The current average of $17,186 sits slightly above last year's $17,150.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop.

The Insight’s practical sedan packaging and efficient hybrid setup should continue to appeal to shoppers who want a conventional-feeling commuter car. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Insight safe?

The 2019 Honda Insight is a Top Safety Pick Plus according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it gets top marks in every single assessment.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Insight comes with a reversing camera, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. EX and Touring trims add LaneWatch, which shows the right-side blind spot through a camera, but it does not replace a traditional blind-spot monitoring system and does not include rear cross-traffic alert.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Insight or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 Insight is a redesigned, more conventional 4-door sedan with plenty of interior and trunk space, and it is described as more attractive than the Civic on which it is based.

The bottom line: If you want the most polished version of this hybrid formula, the 2019 is the one to focus on because it combines practical packaging, strong safety, and stable pricing. If you are shopping mainly on value, you can still find good opportunities in this year’s market, especially if you prioritize a clean history and a lower-priced listing.
