Is the 2019 Honda Civic Type R a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its thrilling performance, energetic handling, and responsive steering, and they also like that it still works well as a daily driver. The overview backs that up by framing it as a quick, engaging, and unusually well-rounded performance car with real everyday usability. Is the 2019 Honda Civic Type R reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to enthusiasts: it delivers the kind of trouble-free, long-term ownership experience that helps you count on it as both a performance car and a daily driver. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the car’s core appeal and more about how hard a previous owner may have driven it, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic Type R?

At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension, brakes, tires, and signs of hard use, since this is a performance model that may have been driven aggressively. You should also pay close attention to overall condition, because the best used examples will usually be the ones that show careful ownership rather than just low mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic Type R?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 121 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,075, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic Type R's resale value?

The current average of $34,294 sits slightly below last year's $35,416.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer but may temper short-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the Type R’s strong enthusiast appeal should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with clean history and desirable condition. If you buy carefully, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you settle for a rough or heavily modified car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic Type R or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and available inventory in this group. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years for a lower entry point, but the 2019 remains a compelling choice when you want a well-liked performance hatch with a broad used-market selection.
