How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,994 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Civic earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and impressive safety features. The Civic also gets credit for its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. For you, that means this model year fits especially well if you want a compact car that feels polished, practical, and easy to live with.

The market also shows 33.2% good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, and the expert evaluation reinforces that this is a car built to feel durable and dependable over time. The cabin materials and switchgear are described as built to last, and the driving experience is framed as smooth, refined, and confidence-inspiring. Honda also positions the Civic as a safe, comfortable, and reliable daily driver rather than a car that asks much from you.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

At 49.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or shows signs of uneven wear. Focus on condition first: panel alignment, tire wear, interior wear, and how well the car drives and brakes. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is often worth paying a little more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup includes sedan, coupe, and hatchback body styles, and the Sport trim adds a center-mounted exhaust and some of the exterior flash of the Si for less money.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport sedans and coupes use a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while EX and above trims get a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 with 174 hp. The hatchback uses the turbo engine on all trims, and the CVT is available on several trims.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a standout. The system is dated overall, but the voice input for addresses is quick and accurate.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is described as quicker to respond and better in mid-range acceleration than the base 2.0-liter, and the CVT is praised for not straining the engine at high revs or lugging it at low revs.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, Si, and Type R.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core value and standard safety equipment without the extra cost of higher trims. It makes sense if you want the lowest-priced path into the lineup.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more style and some of the flash of the Si without jumping to performance-model pricing.
• EX: CarGurus recommends the EX trim, and it stands out for the turbo engine, moonroof, power driver’s seat, and touchscreen. If you want the strongest mix of everyday comfort and value, this is the one to focus on.
• Si: This is the enthusiast choice, with more power and a stick-shift focus. It suits you if driving enjoyment matters more than comfort-first shopping.
• Type R: This is the high-performance halo model with far more power than the rest of the lineup. It’s for buyers who want the most extreme Civic experience, not the broadest value.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R, so safety-package coverage is strongest on the mainstream trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,994 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,130, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $17,143 sits slightly below last year's $18,037.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help you if you buy now and hold the car for a while. If you’re a future seller, the current market indicates that condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter a lot when it’s time to resell. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones because shoppers still respond to the Civic’s reputation and broad appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The 2019 Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories, with the exception of four stars for the coupe's passenger-side frontal crash rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. That makes the Civic especially strong on mainstream trims, while the Si and Type R require more attention if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s polished feel, broad variety, and strong safety focus while making only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,353, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,143 average.
• It adds more standard safety and convenience features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with added standard features, the 2020 is the cleaner upgrade path.
