CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Genesis G80

Summary
With 325 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,574, 33.5% of 2019 Genesis G80 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Genesis G80 4.71 / 5 stars.
51.4% of 2019 Genesis G80 listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Genesis G80 stands out as a luxury sedan that delivers a premium experience without the premium-brand price. It was part of the first-generation G80, which offered a 3.8-liter V6 with 311 hp and 293 lb-ft of torque or a 5.0-liter V8 with 419 hp and 383 lb-ft, along with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the engine. That combination gave buyers real choice, and the model’s value was a major part of its appeal.
It also came standard with a strong list of safety and driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and a rear-view camera. The cabin was comfortable, with well-cushioned seats and suspension tuning that prioritized body control over cornering sharpness. On the downside, the interior switchgear was criticized for feeling too much like Hyundai’s, and fuel economy was not a strong point. Still, for shoppers who wanted a quiet, well-equipped luxury sedan with a lot of power for the money, the 2019 Genesis G80 made a compelling case.

This is my second Genesis. I have searched for a year and a half for this one. I have driven Lexus, BMW, Cadillac etc. there are none that compare to the Genesis. Luxury at its finest. Smooth, quiet ride and is absolutely gorgeous!

Is the 2019 Genesis G80 a good car?
Yes — the 4.71/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the luxury feel, smooth and quiet ride, and strong value compared with BMW and Mercedes-Benz, while also calling out the advanced tech features and respectable performance. If you want a premium sedan experience without paying typical luxury-brand pricing, this model year fits that use case well. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding attractive pricing.
Is the 2019 Genesis G80 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes that it feels dependable, with a smooth, quiet driving experience that many buyers can count on over time. That kind of satisfaction matters for used-car shoppers because it often reflects fewer surprises and a more confidence-inspiring ownership experience. For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been well maintained and not worn down by prior use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Genesis G80?
At 52% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint consistency, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past repairs. You should also focus on overall condition inside and out, since a luxury sedan’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

- Inventory: There are 319 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.

What is the 2019 Genesis G80's resale value?
The current average of $21,494 sits slightly below last year's $22,649.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help you if you plan to own it for a few years before selling. A lower entry price can also reduce the amount of value you need to recover later. Because the market still shows steady interest in this model year, resale should remain reasonably supported if you buy a clean example at the right price.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 52% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $18,354, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $21,494 average.
- It adds a more performance-focused character with a Sport trim and adaptive suspension.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2019 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2018 is the better value-focused alternative, especially if you want to stretch your budget while still staying in the G80 family.
