CarGurus Analysis: 2019 GMC Acadia
overall

Summary
With 2,357 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,430.00, 30.8% of 2019 GMC Acadia models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 GMC Acadia 4.43 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
63.9% of 2019 Acadia models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 GMC Acadia stands out in the crowded three-row midsize SUV segment by feeling more upscale than many rivals. CarGurus describes it as not as large or spacious as some competitors, but also notes its upscale interior and solid driving dynamics. That combination gives it a different personality from the typical family hauler: it aims to feel a little more refined without giving up the practicality shoppers expect from a vehicle in this class.
What makes the 2019 Acadia especially appealing is the way it balances family usefulness with a more distinctive cabin and road feel. The summary says it rides on the same platform as the Chevrolet Traverse but has a shorter wheelbase and a more upscale cabin, which helps it feel less like a stretched-out utility vehicle and more like something special. For buyers who want a three-row SUV that does not simply blend into the crowd, that sense of polish is a major part of its appeal.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Acadia is not as large or spacious as some rivals, and owner feedback points to a cramped third row in some cases. Even so, its smooth ride, stylish design, and family-friendly features make it a compelling choice for shoppers who value comfort and refinement as much as maximum space.

So far nothing but love for this car. It works well with my growing children. 3rd row seat very accessible. Features are top notch. Highly recommend.

The GMC Acadia is a stylish, good looking SUV. I purchased the SLE-1 model which is kinda basic (no remote start, no heated seats) but good for what i need. BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ONE, be aware that the 2017-2019 (maybe more??) years have “Shift to Park” issues. You have the shifter in Park, but the car does not think its in Park. So the car will not shut off and you can spend 5-60 minutes playing with the shifter or pushing the shifter button until it thinks its in Park. Its a known issue for several GM models and there are no recall’s and no real definite fix. A lot of theories of what can fix it, but no for-sure thing. Just google “Acadia shift to park” and read up on it yourself. I’ve dealt with this on my 2018 Malibu and now after two days after buying a 2019 Acadia, i find out i have the same issue with this. Its still under warranty so i took it back and the dealer replaced the shifter. We’ll see if that is a permanent fix?? Frustrated to say the least.

This new 2019 is a very good looking vehicle, with a lot of options included. I think the value or price of this vehicle is a little high with the new 2021 vehicles coming out in a few months. This vehicle has everything that we are looking for. I think it is comparable with the Chevy Traverse, Dodge Durango, and Ford Explorer.

There are 2,456 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.
If you find a listing below $17,395.98, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 GMC Acadia a good car?
Generally — the 2019 GMC Acadia earns a 4.43/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a three-row midsize SUV with a more upscale feel. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
Owners repeatedly praise the smooth ride, stylish design, and family-friendly interior features. The overview also frames it as a three-row SUV that feels more refined than many rivals, with a cabin and road feel that set it apart from more generic family haulers.
That combination makes sense if you want comfort and polish without giving up everyday usefulness, though the Acadia is not the roomiest choice in the class. With 30.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market activity to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 GMC Acadia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on the Acadia’s smooth ride, family-friendly features, and overall livability. It also suggests the vehicle can be a trouble-free choice for shoppers who value comfort and practicality over flash.
The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by describing the Acadia as a powerful and well-balanced machine that works well for regular commuting and can handle more unique driving situations when needed. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention that lower trims can be relatively affordable for a three-row SUV, which helps reduce the pressure of long-term ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main risk is that some examples may have been used hard or may carry the kind of age-related issues that come with a busy family SUV, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?
At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and trim-level features still work as expected.
Pay extra attention to how the third row, infotainment, and driver-assistance features function in real use, since those are the kinds of details that separate a clean, well-kept Acadia from one that has been neglected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SL covers the basics with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors, while the SLE trims add features like LED headlights, a power liftgate, heated front seats, and remote engine start. The SLT trims are the sweet spot because they add more standard comfort and convenience equipment, including a Bose premium stereo, more driver-assistance features, and additional luxury touches.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a 193-horsepower inline 4-cylinder and a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is the stronger choice, with much better acceleration, available AWD, and up to 4,000 pounds of towing when properly equipped.
- Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of this equipment is not standard on lower trims.
- Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot that requires a subscription. Higher trims move to an 8-inch screen, and Denali adds navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The base 4-cylinder FWD setup returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, 23 combined, while the V6 AWD setup should return 17/25/20.
Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?
The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.
Here's the short version:
- SL: This is the entry point, and it gives you the essentials, including 7-passenger seating, 3-zone climate control, and standard smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but it leaves a lot of the Acadia’s nicer equipment on the table.
- SLE-1: This trim adds signature LED headlights, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to more option packages. It is a reasonable step up if you want a little more style and flexibility without jumping too far in price.
- SLE-2: This one adds a power liftgate, fog lights, heated front seats, remote engine start, and more convenience features. It is a stronger everyday choice than the lower trims, especially if you want comfort upgrades without going all the way to SLT pricing.
- SLT-1: This is the best-value trim because it brings in the Bose premium stereo, more driver-assistance features, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, a 120-volt outlet, and more upscale cabin touches. It also gets the larger 8-inch touchscreen, which makes the interior feel more premium.
- SLT-2: This trim adds heated rear seats, front-seat memory settings, and a more extensive driver-assistance list. It is the pick if you want a more fully equipped family SUV and are willing to pay for it.
- Denali: The Denali is the luxury-focused choice, with unique styling, a hands-free power tailgate, navigation, leather-appointed seating, and a larger driver display. It is the right fit if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.
The safety-package trims are worth noting: Driver Alert Package 1 comes standard on SLT-1 and is available on SLE-2, while Driver Alert Package 2 is added on SLT-2.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,456 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,395.98, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?
The current average of $17,390 sits slightly below last year's $19,319.
That price decline suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you shop carefully and avoid overpaying, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it is time to sell.
The model’s broad family appeal and upscale positioning can help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Strong owner satisfaction also matters because shoppers tend to gravitate toward vehicles that have a good reputation for everyday livability.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The Acadia comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control. Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
That means the safety story is solid, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are tied to higher trims or packages rather than being standard across the board. If safety tech is a priority, you should pay close attention to trim level and option content.
Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.98% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its upscale cabin and balanced driving dynamics.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $15,515, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,390 average.
- It gained wider V6 availability and improved handling, braking, and fuel economy.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,392, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,390 average.
- It adds bolder styling, a new turbo four-cylinder, and updated technology.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, refinement, and market availability, the 2019 is the sensible target. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense only if you specifically want the refresh and are willing to pay more for it.
