What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and any signs that the third row or family-use features have been heavily used. Because some owners mention a frustrating shift-related issue, it’s smart to confirm that the transmission and related systems behave normally during a thorough test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SL includes 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors, while the SLE trims add features like LED headlights, a power liftgate, heated front seats, and remote start. The SLT trims are the sweet spot because they add more standard convenience and driver-assistance content without pushing you all the way to the top-end luxury trim.
• Powertrain: Two engines are offered: a 193-hp inline four-cylinder and a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is the stronger choice, and it’s the one you’ll want if you care about quicker acceleration, available AWD, or towing up to 4,000 pounds.
• Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of this equipment is not standard on lower trims, so check carefully before you buy.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot. Higher trims upgrade to an 8-inch screen, and Denali adds navigation plus a larger driver display.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder FWD setup returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined, while the V6 AWD setup is rated at 17/25/20.

Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the least expensive way into the Acadia, and it covers the basics with 7-passenger seating, climate control, and the standard infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price, but it’s light on the convenience and safety content that many shoppers will want.
• SLE-1: This trim adds LED headlights, carpeted floor mats, and SiriusXM, and it opens the door to more option packages. It’s a reasonable step up if you want a little more equipment without jumping too far in price.
• SLE-2: This trim adds a power liftgate, fog lights, roof rails, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and remote start. It’s a stronger value than the SLE-1 if you want everyday convenience features, especially if you’re trying to avoid the higher cost of the SLT trims.
• SLT-1: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a Bose 8-speaker premium stereo, more driver-assistance features, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, a 120-volt outlet, and lumbar adjustment for both front seats. It also gets the larger 8-inch screen, making it feel much more complete.
• SLT-2: This trim builds on the SLT-1 with 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, a more extensive driver-assistance list, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. Choose it if you want more comfort and safety content without going all the way to Denali.
• Denali: This is the luxury-focused trim, with a hands-free power tailgate, unique wheels, brightwork roof rails, HID headlights, leather-appointed seating, and a more upscale cabin presentation. It’s the right pick if you want the most premium Acadia experience.

The safety packages are a meaningful part of the trim story, so make sure you compare them closely before deciding.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,486 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,750, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $16,750 sits slightly below last year's $18,868.

That decline suggests the Acadia has become more affordable for buyers, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may pressure resale if you plan to sell soon. A softer market usually means future sellers need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong feature content should still hold attention better than stripped or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?

The Acadia comes standard with the typical array of front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Lower trims miss some of this advanced safety content, so you’ll want to verify exactly which package a used listing includes.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It balances upscale cabin feel with practical family use.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,114, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $16,750 average.
• It broadened V6 availability and improved everyday usability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,696, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,750 average.
• It adds bolder styling, a new AT4 trim, and updated tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, features, and used-market availability, the 2019 is the safer default. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense if you want the refresh and are willing to pay more.
