Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi stands out as a plug-in hybrid that Ford used to keep the Fusion relevant near the end of its run. For 2019, it gets a mild facelift, and Ford also gives it fresh safety technology through the Co-Pilot360 suite. That package adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera, and it comes standard across the range.
The biggest mechanical update is the Energi’s increased battery capacity, which rises from 7.6 kWh to 9.0 kWh thanks to more energy-dense chemistry. That change lifts the stated electric range from 21 to 25 miles, putting it in line with the Prius Prime. In practice, the 2019 Fusion Energi should appeal to buyers who want a comfortable, quiet plug-in hybrid with good efficiency and a strong safety feature set, though the battery does take a toll on trunk space and some owners say the electric range does not always meet expectations.

The car gets rated gas mileage maybe a little bit better and does what its supposed to do. It has a quiet confident ride. It has a small trunk due to the battery being in it, but surprisingly you can still pack a fair amount of luggage in it. A overall good hybrid plug-in sedan

We love the Fusion. It is very comfortable and fun to drive.

Upgraded from a base trim Honda Civic. Love the heated, air conditioned, and leather seats and the plug in hybrid drivetrain. I hear Ford licensed Toyotas prime drivetrain for this. The trunk is 40% battery, and it doesnt always deliver the displayed electric range, but now I fuel up once a month instead of once a week.

How much does the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,740 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,683.50 |
| Year-Round High | $16,794.74 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,808 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.35% |
Prices have softened 6.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 87 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $14,683.50, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, decent gas mileage, handling, and safety features. For you, that means this model fits best if you want a comfortable plug-in hybrid that feels calm on the road and still delivers useful efficiency. The market also shows 32.2% good and great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, quietness, and efficiency that can make daily use feel easy to count on. On the expert side, the plug-in hybrid setup is described as delivering strong total range and enough electric driving to cover many commutes before the gas engine steps in. Ford also gives the car a federal tax credit boost to $4,600 this year, which helps offset some of the plug-in premium.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the battery-heavy design can reduce practicality and may not always deliver the electric range you expect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision or shows signs of heavy use. Pay close attention to the battery-related range behavior, braking feel, and trunk practicality, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction. It also makes sense to confirm that the safety and driver-assistance features are functioning properly, since they are a major part of the car’s appeal.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim is the only one offered, and it comes with a more upscale equipment list than the base versions of many rivals. You get LEDs all around, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming driver’s mirror, automatic wipers, keyless entry and ignition with remote start, adaptive cruise, heated and ventilated front power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 12-speaker Sony stereo. The cabin materials and switchgear are described as less impressive than you might expect at this price, so inspect interior condition closely.
- Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup uses a larger battery this year, increasing capacity from 7.6 kWh to 9.0 kWh and lifting the stated electric range to 25 miles. The car can deliver strong total range, but real-world electric-only driving may fall short of expectations in hilly or demanding use.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. The lane-keep system cannot be disabled, so make sure that behavior suits you.
- Infotainment: Sync 3 is standard, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system can lag at times, but the 12-speaker Sony audio system is a highlight.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert notes that the car can go nearly a full week before the gas gauge moves in typical use, but no MPG or MPGe figure is stated.
Which 2019 Ford Fusion Energi trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi is offered in 1 trim level: Titanium.
Here's the short version:
The Titanium is the only choice, so your decision is really about whether the equipment and plug-in efficiency are worth the tradeoffs in trunk space and driving feel. It brings the full set of comfort and tech features, including heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise, remote start, and the Sony audio system, so it suits you best if you want a well-equipped plug-in hybrid rather than a stripped-down commuter. Because there is no lower trim to compare against, the value question comes down to whether you can live with the battery-related cargo penalty and the mixed expert verdict on ride, handling, and braking.
The standard safety package is a strong selling point, and it comes across as a major part of the trim’s appeal.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.
- Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 87 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.35% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,683.50, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi's resale value?
The current average of $15,740 sits slightly below last year's $16,808.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means condition, mileage, and documentation will matter even more when it comes time to attract buyers. Strong equipment and a good ownership reputation can still support demand, but you should expect resale to depend heavily on how well the car has been maintained.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi safe?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, though it also has a three-star rating in the front-passenger test and a four-star rating for rollover. IIHS testing brought top marks in most areas, but it also recorded a Poor rating for headlights and a Marginal rating for child-seat anchor ease of use.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. One thing to note is that the lane-keep system cannot be disabled, so if you dislike constant intervention, that’s worth checking during a test drive. The braking performance is also a concern, since the expert notes a longer-than-average stopping distance.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion Energi or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.35% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its updated battery capacity, longer electric range, and standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date version of the Fusion Energi, the 2019 is the one to target because it brings the improved battery, the longer electric range, and the standard safety suite. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on the best-maintained examples, but the model’s trunk-space compromise and mixed expert verdict mean you should be selective rather than rushing into the first low price you see.
