About 2019 Ford Fusion Energi
overall
Ford tries to tempt buyers away from the Prius by giving the Fusion Energi a mild facelift, increased range, and some fresh safety features.
The Fusion may be going away for good, but before it takes its final bow, Ford is doing its best to keep it relevant. This year, the plug-in hybrid version—the Energi—receives increased battery capacity (from 7.6 kWh to 9.0 kWh), thanks to more energy-dense chemistry. In turn, this increases the stated electric range from 21 to 25 miles, putting it right in line with the best-selling plug-in hybrid on the market, the Prius Prime. Additionally, a mild facelift has updated the front and rear, but the real winner for 2019 is Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance tech. This addition adds blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. The Fusion is the first vehicle to get this new package, and in one of the smartest moves Ford has made of late, it comes standard across the range.

The car gets rated gas mileage maybe a little bit better and does what its supposed to do. It has a quiet confident ride. It has a small trunk due to the battery being in it, but surprisingly you can still pack a fair amount of luggage in it. A overall good hybrid plug-in sedan

Upgraded from a base trim Honda Civic. Love the heated, air conditioned, and leather seats and the plug in hybrid drivetrain. I hear Ford licensed Toyotas prime drivetrain for this. The trunk is 40% battery, and it doesnt always deliver the displayed electric range, but now I fuel up once a month instead of once a week.

How much does the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,628 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,682 |
| Year-Round High | $16,279 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,232 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.72% |
Prices have softened 3.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 82 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi a good car?
Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.
You’ll likely appreciate the comfort, quiet ride, and decent gas mileage, and the handling also comes up positively in owner feedback. The model’s safety features are another recurring strength, and the plug-in hybrid setup adds appeal if you want electric driving for short trips without giving up gasoline range.
For shoppers who want a comfortable, quiet plug-in hybrid with strong safety equipment and everyday usability, this year’s Fusion Energi fits that brief well. The market also shows 31.7% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile listings to consider.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with comfort and quiet operation reinforcing the sense that you can count on it. The expert review also describes the plug-in hybrid’s range behavior as good enough to go nearly a week before the gas gauge budged, which supports the idea that it can handle routine commuting without drama.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite adds standard driver-assistance equipment, and the model also includes a tax-credit advantage that improves the ownership equation. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the battery-heavy packaging can affect practicality and the electric range may not always match expectations.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and any signs of prior repair. It’s also smart to focus on the battery-related driving experience, since the plug-in system is central to how this car works day to day. Pay close attention to cargo practicality as well, because the battery reduces trunk space.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Energi is available in only the top-tier Titanium trim, and the cabin materials and switchgear may not feel as premium as you’d expect at this price point.
- Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup uses a larger battery this year, which raises the stated electric range from 21 to 25 miles, but real-world range can fall short depending on conditions.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. You can’t disable the lane-keep feature.
- Infotainment: You get the Sync 3 interface, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 12-speaker Sony stereo.
- Fuel efficiency: The model offers more than 600 miles of total range, and the battery upgrade also increases the Federal Tax Credit from $4,000 to $4,600.
Which 2019 Ford Fusion Energi trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi is offered in 1 trim level: Titanium.
Here's the short version:
The Titanium is the only choice, so your decision is really about whether the standard equipment and plug-in hybrid setup fit your needs. It brings a strong tech list, including keyless entry and ignition with remote start, adaptive cruise, heated and ventilated front power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. If you want the Fusion Energi, this is the trim to shop.
The safety package is standard, and that means you don’t have to climb the lineup to get Co-Pilot360.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Fusion Energi?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 82 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.72% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,682, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi's resale value?
The current average of $15,628 sits slightly below last year's $16,232.
That downward movement suggests the market has softened, which can work against you if you’re planning to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more favorable entry point now, especially if you find a clean example with strong equipment and a good history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi safe?
The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi earns an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, with a three-star rating in the front-passenger test and a four-star rating for rollover. It also earns top marks from IIHS except for a Poor headlights result and a Marginal child-seat anchor usability rating.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera. One caveat is that you can’t disable the lane-keep system, and the expert review also notes that braking performance is worse than average for the class.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion Energi or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.72% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- This year brings a larger battery, a higher stated electric range, and standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of the Fusion Energi, the 2019 is the one to target because it adds the battery upgrade and standard driver-assistance tech. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the cleanest, best-priced listing you can find rather than stretching for extras, since this trim already comes well equipped.
