Ford’s wide-ranging F-Series pickups can be configured for any job, including heavy-duty towing. The F-350 adds the availability of a dualie (four-wheel) rear axle. Highly customizable with wide-ranging features and equipment, the F-350 offers a fresh design with lightweight aluminum bodywork, like its smaller F-Series cousins. It can be had in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited models. Bed lengths are either 6.8 feet or 8.2 feet, and body styles are either regular cab, extended cab, or crew cab. The 2019 carries over with a Sport Package available for the Lariat model. It features black trim, a spray-in bedliner, and 20-inch wheels. A new Bang & Olufsen optional stereo also replaces the one from 2018.

Under the hood of the F-350 Super Duty is one of two available V-8s. There is a 6.3-liter gasoline V-8, rated at 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque or a 6.7-liter turbodiesel with 450 hp and a whopping 935 lb-ft of torque. Both engines can be had with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or optional four-wheel drive (AWD), and both get a 6-speed automatic transmission. A gasoline-powered F-350 can tow up to 18,000 pounds.

The EPA doesn’t give ratings to trucks this big. An optional 48-gallon fuel tank will trick you into thinking you’re getting good mileage until it’s time to fill up. The diesel F-350 can be had with a heavy-duty trailer tow package. Other noteworthy options on the utility front include an off-road package, locking rear differential, skid plates, a spray-in bedliner, and a seven-camera system that includes a separate reversing camera mounted on the trailer. There are also several rear axle ratios available.

On the inside, the F-350 is roomy. Features range from utilitarian to downright luxurious. Base XL models get vinyl seats and manual windows along with manual-adjust towing mirrors. XLT models add cloth seats and a lower tier version of the Ford SYNC infotainment system, along with power heated mirrors, trailer-brake controller, lockable storage under the seats, and power windows and locks.

The mid-range F-350 Lariat adds power-folding and telescoping mirrors, parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, power leather front seats, power adjustable pedals, a better 8.0-inch touchscreen SYNC 3 infotainment system, power outlets, and a 10-speaker stereo (up from four or six speakers on lower models) with USB charging ports. The western-themed King Ranch model adds its usual layers of cowboy-look leather along with features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a navigation system. Platinum models add power running boards, a remote tailgate release, and a few active safety features. The range-topping F-350 Limited adds a few more safety features plus a panoramic sunroof and two-tone leather seats.

There isn’t the usual full crash test rating for the F-350, but there are plenty of available active safety features. Platinum models get blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert standard. Limited models add a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. The trailer camera system features seven cameras, including a reversing camera on the trailer itself, that make maneuvering with a large trailer a little less intimidating.

Ford’s Super Duty range is a fresh design, likely contributing to its appeal as the most popular range of pickups on America’s roads. The F-150 and F-250 Super Duty should be more than enough truck for most buyers out there, but the F-350 unlocks even more utility and the availability of a dualie rear.
