What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford F-150?

At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re shopping a higher-trim truck or one with more equipment, since condition can vary a lot across used pickups. Focus on how the cabin, electronics, and body panels have held up, and make sure the truck’s equipment matches the trim level you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the work-focused XL to the luxury-oriented Limited, with the XL offering only basic equipment such as a reversing camera, AM/FM radio, a 4.2-inch audio screen, and dynamic hitch assist. Higher trims add features like an 8-inch Sync 3 screen, leather, heated and ventilated front seats, wood-panel interior trim, power-deploying running boards, and massaging seats, so the lower trims leave out a lot of comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: Engine choices include a 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6. Efficiency varies widely, with the diesel returning 22 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined in RWD form and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost returning 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined with RWD.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup.
• Infotainment: The base XL uses a 4.2-inch center-stack screen with audio controls and Bluetooth connectivity. XLT and higher trims get Sync 3 with an 8-inch color touchscreen, and it supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An available Wi-Fi hotspot and B&O Play premium sound system add more tech appeal on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined with RWD and 20 city, 25 highway, 22 combined with 4WD. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined with RWD, while the V8 with 4WD returns 16 mpg city, 22 highway, 18 combined.

Which 2019 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-truck choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the nicer cabin and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, the larger 8-inch Sync 3 screen, and a USB port without jumping into luxury pricing.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale daily driver, since it adds a leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into luxury with its distinctive Camel Back upholstery and embroidered interior details, making it a strong pick if you want a premium-feeling truck with personality.
• Platinum: This is the step up for buyers who want even more luxury, including a unique wood-panel interior and power-deploying running boards.
• Raptor: This is the off-road performance model, with a wide-body kit, added underbody armor, and specially designed Fox Racing Shox.
• Limited: This is the top luxury choice, with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a dual-panel moonroof, dual exhaust, and massaging seats.

The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup, so that’s a useful safety and maneuvering upgrade to keep in mind.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,097, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $26,097 sits slightly below last year's $27,876.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent market cooling, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you pay close to the low end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. Strong demand for well-equipped full-size pickups also helps support used-truck values when condition and mileage are favorable.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 adds a new 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6 and keeps the truck feeling current with modest updates.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $24,000, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $26,097 average.
• It is a well-rounded full-size pickup with strong towing and fuel economy.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,180, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $26,097 average.
• It brings an accommodating modern interior and comfortable road manners.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and broad capability, the 2019 is the sensible default. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the value play. If you want to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and broader polish, the 2020 is worth a look.
