How much does the 2019 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 9.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,780 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the value for money, powerful engine options, and advanced features, while the Explorer’s roomy, mainstream midsize-SUV layout makes it a practical fit if you want a three-row vehicle with broad everyday utility. Some owners mention seating comfort and the backup camera screen as areas to check, but the overall feedback is positive. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights reliability and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, along with appreciation for the model’s long-term usefulness and dependable performance. That said, used buyers should still plan for normal age-related wear and verify maintenance history carefully, since reliability can vary from one example to the next.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you visit in person. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and electronics, since condition can vary widely across used examples. Pay close attention to seating comfort, camera operation, and any signs of uneven wear that could point to harder use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,780 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,818, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,818 sits slightly below last year's $18,664.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. Well-kept examples should still hold attention, especially when they present as clean, well-equipped family SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,792, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,818 average.
• It brings an all-new chassis with more technology and hybrid and high-performance options.

The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and a wide selection of listings, especially if you’re shopping carefully for condition and history. Consider the 2020 if you’re willing to pay more for the redesign and added tech, but price-sensitive buyers will usually find the 2019 the smarter starting point.
