Is the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze a good car?

The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze is a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact car with a practical feature set and a comfort-first personality, and its user rating is 3/5. The overview points to strong safety equipment, solid road manners, and uncommon powertrain choices, including a diesel option and a turbocharged gas engine with a manual transmission. It also highlights useful features like a standard seven-inch touchscreen, available navigation, dual-zone climate control, and heated seats in upper trims, which makes it a sensible fit for commuting and longer drives.

At the same time, you should weigh the Cruze’s slower performance and dated tech against those strengths. With 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze reliable?

The 2019 Chevrolet Cruze is presented as a car with strong safety equipment and a well-rounded comfort profile, which helps support confidence in everyday use. The overview also emphasizes that Chevrolet made the 2019 model more polished by refreshing the exterior, standardizing the seven-inch touchscreen, and letting you disable the stop-start system.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well, since condition and prior use will matter more than the model’s broad strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Cruze?

At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on the body, suspension, and electronics, since those areas can reveal whether a car has been repaired well. Focus on overall condition and documentation rather than just the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Cruze?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 731 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,403, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze's resale value?

The current average of $10,438 sits slightly below last year's $10,957.

That suggests the Cruze has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend implies you should be realistic about future depreciation rather than expecting strong value retention. The upside is that a lower purchase price now can reduce your total ownership cost if you buy a well-kept example.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.73% compared with last year.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $9,888, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $10,438 average.
• The 2018 stands out for its diesel availability and smooth, efficient driving character.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the more polished version of the Cruze with updated standard equipment and a better current-market value picture. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2018 is the better secondary path, especially if you find a clean example with the diesel setup you want.
