CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Sienna
overall

Summary
With 1,073 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,925, 31.1% of 2018 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Sienna 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.
56.3% of 2018 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Sienna stands out as a minivan that makes family hauling easier, especially for buyers who need all-wheel drive. It is presented as a practical choice for moving kids and cargo, and the test-drive commentary makes clear that this is the kind of vehicle that fits road trips, sporting gear, and home-improvement runs. That same commentary also notes a limitation: among minivans, the 2018 Toyota Sienna is not the best choice unless all-wheel drive is a priority.
What also helps define the 2018 Toyota Sienna is its broad appeal as a family vehicle with a reputation for spaciousness and reliability. The user feedback reinforces that it is valued for those traits, along with its stylish design and all-wheel drive capability. At the same time, some owners were disappointed by the lack of features such as navigation and hands-free technology, and a few felt the price was too high for what it offered.

We have owned Siennas for 14 years, and they are wonderful! Super dependable, low maintenance expenses as it never has an issue (basically just change the oil and rotate the tires). By the way, were retired and still love it!

How much does the 2018 Toyota Sienna cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,867 |
| Year-Round Low | $20,450 |
| Year-Round High | $22,427 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,260 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.76% |
Prices have softened 1.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,094 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a well-liked minivan with broad family appeal. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.
The user feedback repeatedly highlights spaciousness, reliability, and all-wheel drive capability, while the overview frames it as a practical choice for hauling kids, cargo, road-trip gear, and home-improvement supplies. That combination makes it especially appealing if you want a family vehicle that prioritizes utility over flash.
There are also some clear tradeoffs: a few owners wanted more features such as navigation and hands-free technology, and some felt the price was high for what it offered. Even so, 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests you can still find value if you shop carefully.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback specifically calls out reliability, and the overview reinforces that the Sienna has a reputation for being dependable and practical for family use. The expert commentary also points to a deserved reputation for dependability, which lines up with the model’s long-running appeal among buyers who want a minivan they can count on.
Toyota also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific van you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy family-duty use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?
At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, safety equipment, and interior condition. Because this model is often used as a family hauler, pay close attention to signs of wear from frequent passenger use, cargo hauling, and daily commuting. If a listing has been in an accident, make sure the repairs were done cleanly and that the van still drives and tracks properly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L trim gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports, while all trims except the L add Safety Connect subscription services and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The SE adds sport-tuned steering and suspension, and the Limited can be equipped with a premium JBL sound system and a 360-degree surround-view monitor.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. AWD is available only on LE, XLE, and Limited trims.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard, including adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on the SE and standard on XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The base L trim gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports. All trims except the L have Safety Connect and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
- Fuel efficiency: The SE returned 18.9 mpg on the test loop, versus an EPA estimate of 22 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2018 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2018 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the entry point, but it still gets a Scout connected navigation system and more USB ports. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sienna lineup and can live without the extra convenience and connectivity features found higher up.
- LE: This is the trim to focus on if you want the best balance of value and capability. It’s one of the trims that can be paired with AWD, which is a major draw if all-weather traction matters to you.
- SE: This is the style-and-driving-interest trim, with sport-tuned steering and suspension, unique exterior and interior touches, and available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It suits you if you want the Sienna to feel a little more distinctive.
- XLE: This is the more family-friendly upgrade if you want more convenience and safety equipment, including standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s a strong choice if you want a well-equipped minivan without going all the way to the top.
- Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with access to premium audio and a surround-view monitor. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale Sienna experience and are willing to pay for it.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alert are standard on XLE and Limited, so those trims give you the strongest safety-package value.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Sienna?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a fair deal.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,094 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,450, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $21,867 sits slightly below last year's $22,260.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if you overpay now. If you buy at the right price and keep the van in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later. Trim choice and maintenance history will matter a lot when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2018 Toyota Sienna does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it earns a four-star frontal-impact rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Safety Connect is also included on most versions, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the SE and standard on XLE and Limited.
The main caution is that the Sienna trails some rivals in crash protection, including an Acceptable result in the driver-side small-overlap frontal test and the lack of a side-impact rating from NHTSA. That makes a careful condition check and a strong safety-feature trim choice especially important.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Toyota Safety Sense is standard this year, adding a broad suite of driver-assistance features.
The bottom line: If you want a Sienna with standard Toyota Safety Sense and a strong mix of family utility, the 2018 model is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop aggressively within this year’s range and focus on well-kept examples with clean history and the right trim.
