CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Corolla

Summary
With 107 currently listed for sale near Indianapolis, IN and an average price of $15,645, 42.1% of 2018 Toyota Corollas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Corolla 4.2 / 5 stars.
98.1% of 2018 Corolla models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Corolla stands out as a practical compact car that balances broad appeal with a wider model range than earlier versions. It is offered as a Corolla sedan or Corolla hatchback, with the Corolla Hybrid available only as a sedan and the GR Corolla only as a hatchback. The design is sharper than the Corolla nameplate’s reputation might suggest, with arrow-shaped headlamps, balanced proportions, and sculpted sides, and Toyota also says this generation brought high-tech safety features.
What makes the 2018 Toyota Corolla especially distinctive is how much variety it offers within a familiar, easy-to-live-with package. The hybrid pairs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors for 121 combined horsepower and 52 mpg combined fuel economy, while gas models came with either a 1.8-liter engine making 139 horsepower or a 2.0-liter engine making 169 horsepower, depending on trim. From the start, the entry-level sedan included LED headlights and tail lights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen, and voice recognition. That combination of efficiency, standard equipment, and everyday usability helps explain why owners praise its gas mileage, reliability, and ease of driving.
There are also meaningful updates that keep the car competitive. For the 2023 model year, Toyota added fresh bumper designs, an eight-inch touchscreen display, climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models. That same update also made all gas Corollas share the more powerful 2.0-liter engine, and it improved the hybrid to 134 horsepower with 156 pound-feet of torque. Later changes brought back the Nightshade Edition for 2024, added wireless phone charging on certain trims, and expanded the GR Corolla lineup with a Premium trim. The main tradeoff is that some buyers may still find the car basic in places, especially if they want richer tech or a more elaborate sound system, but the 2018 Toyota Corolla’s appeal is its mix of value, comfort, and proven dependability.

The features are fantastic in the car the only downside is that the tire pressure light won’t turn off and there is a little wear and tear cosmetically but overall the car runs and drives great!

Ive owned many cars over the years, including Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, BMW, VW Passat to name a few. I also travel weekly for work and rent various models. Toyota Corolla is the finest car I have ever owned. Durable, reliable, simple, quick (enough), easy to work on, good on gas, maneuverable, and engineered to minimize customer frustrations. Selling our Corolla was a mistake. Were definitely getting another one.

How much does the 2018 Toyota Corolla cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,571 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,519.18 |
| Year-Round High | $14,576.17 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,248 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +2.26% |
Prices are up 2.26% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 1,632 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of choice in the market.
If you find a listing below $13,519.18, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a solid ownership experience. Drivers consistently praise the Corolla for its great gas mileage, reliability, and ease of driving, and they also value its comfortable interior and overall value. That lines up well with the Corolla’s practical, efficiency-first character, especially if you want a straightforward daily driver rather than something flashy. With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe it as reliable, and they also highlight its trouble-free ownership, strong gas mileage, and ease of driving. Those themes suggest a car that many owners feel comfortable counting on for everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Corolla?
At 48.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was minor or more serious. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for uneven wear, repair quality, and signs of neglect. Focus on overall condition first, since a clean-looking Corolla can still hide issues if it has had a rough past.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Corolla?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently without assuming every listing is a bargain.

- Inventory: There are 1,632 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.26% year-over-year.

What is the 2018 Toyota Corolla's resale value?
The current average of $14,571 sits slightly above last year's $14,248.
That upward move suggests the market still sees steady value in this Corolla year, which can help support resale strength if you buy carefully. If prices remain firm, you may have a better chance of holding onto value than you would with a model year that has softened more sharply. Strong demand for practical, efficient cars also tends to help when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 48.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.26% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $13,733, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $14,571 average.
- It adds standard Safety Sense P and a refreshed front end.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of demand, satisfaction, and shopping flexibility, the 2018 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings meaningful safety upgrades.
