Is the 2018 Toyota Camry a good car?

The market also shows 32.4% good and great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to reliable performance and dependable everyday use, and the expert review reinforces that this Camry is built around reliable daily transportation. It’s also described as a car that does its job well, which lines up with the long-term ownership appeal many used buyers want.

The expert review also notes that the Camry’s 4-cylinder pulls surprisingly well and that the car delivers positive steering feedback with little body roll, which supports confidence in everyday use. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is making sure prior wear, maintenance history, and condition match the car’s strong reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

At 50% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because some reviewers mention concerns about interior materials and missing options in lower trims, it’s worth checking whether the car’s equipment and condition match what you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L trim includes remote keyless entry, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and a USB port, while the LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat, an anti-theft system, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. The SE adds a unique front-end design, 18-inch black-finished wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats. The XSE adds dual-zone climate control, three USB ports, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and a large 7-inch color information display, while the XLE adds full LED headlights, a bright metallic front grille, 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 203 horsepower, and the XSE version raises output to 206 horsepower. The XSE and XLE are also available with a 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, and all engines use an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city and 41 highway, while the V6 returns 22 city and 32 highway.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. You can also get a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar, but those features are available rather than standard.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune 3.0, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri EyesFree, and Google voice controls for Android users. It does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The XLE V6 and XSE get a larger 8-inch touchscreen, plus a 9-speaker JBL premium audio system and RemoteConnect with Wi-Fi connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city, 41 highway, and 34 combined. The V6 returns 22 mpg city, 32 highway, and 26 combined.

Which 2018 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2018 Toyota Camry is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XSE, and XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest way into the Camry lineup, with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and a USB port. It makes sense if you want the lowest-frills version and plan to add your own comfort expectations through careful shopping rather than trim content.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat, an anti-theft system, and a split-fold rear seat without jumping too far up the price ladder. If you want a more complete everyday sedan without paying for the sportier or luxury-leaning trims, this is the one to focus on.
• SE: This trim adds the more aggressive front-end design, 18-inch black-finished wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats. Choose it if you want the Camry’s sportier look and feel to match the model’s styling mission.
• XSE: This is the most feature-rich sporty trim, adding dual-zone climate control, three USB ports, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and the larger 7-inch color information display. It also offers the 301-horsepower V6 and the 8-inch touchscreen, so it suits you if you want the strongest mix of performance and equipment.
• XLE: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with full LED headlights, a bright metallic front grille, chrome-finished wheels, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim. It’s the trim to consider if you want a more upscale feel and are less focused on the sportier styling.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, which is a major plus no matter which trim you choose.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,948 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,875, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $17,633 sits slightly above last year's $17,610.

That small increase suggests the Camry’s used-market value has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is encouraging because it points to steady demand and predictable depreciation.

The Camry’s broad appeal as a practical daily driver helps support that stability. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2018 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Camry also comes standard with 10 airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

You can also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar, but those features are not standard. That means the Camry is strong on safety right out of the gate, while some of the more advanced parking and awareness aids depend on trim or package selection.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 Camry blends bold styling with strong safety and sporty driving manners.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,967, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,633 average.
• It’s the outgoing generation with a proven, competent family-sedan formula.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,609, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,633 average.
• It adds stronger safety credentials and free scheduled maintenance.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the newer styling and strong safety at a still-reasonable used price. If your priority is saving money, the 2017 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling ownership package and can spend more, the 2019 is worth a look.
