Why it stands out
The 2018 Subaru Outback continues to impress with its unique combination of safety, practicality, and all-terrain capability. As a pioneer in the crossover market, the Outback offers a smooth ride and robust safety features, which are standout attributes for many buyers. Its spacious interior accommodates families with ease, providing up to 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down. While the standard 2.5-liter engine delivers adequate power for light-duty tasks, buyers looking for a bit more muscle can opt for the available 3.6-liter V6. Although some reviews point out a lack of sufficient power in the base model, features like the X-Mode traction system enhance its off-road performance. Additionally, with an overall expert rating of 8/10, the Outback is recognized for its cost-effectiveness and impressive safety scores, including a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS. However, a few critiques relate to its infotainment system and interior lighting, showcasing areas for potential improvement. Overall, the Outback remains a top contender in the midsize SUV category, blending everyday usability with adventurous capabilities.

Call me biased, but I don’t see why everyone doesn’t go for this car. Meets all my needs and it’s reliable, relatively affordable, and sleek looking, what more could I want

I came from a 2009 Nissan Murano SL AWD. This outback has so many fancy features! I love the blind spot monitors, the automatic braking, adaptive cruise, lane detection, etc. Only things Im missing from my Murano are my toe hitch, my 6 CD changer, and buttons in the truck to lift the back seats for me.

I bought the Premium model as a replacement for my 2012 Outback. My 2018 has navigation and moon roof. Car is awesome. Drives and shifts more smoothly than the older one. Not that much acceleration getting on the freeway but adequate. I like all the safety features (blind spot detection, back up camera, lane detection, etc.). Ill be keeping this car until self-driving cars are the standard.
