What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru Impreza?

At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize examples with clean records. A pre-purchase inspection is worth it, especially if you want to confirm that the car has been maintained properly and not just cosmetically cleaned up. Focus on overall condition, since prior use and wear can matter as much as mileage on a used compact car.

What is the 2018 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $13,762 sits slightly below last year's $13,799.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-sale value. Strong owner satisfaction also helps keep demand healthy among used-car shoppers who want a practical all-wheel-drive compact.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,534, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $13,762 average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive in a practical, affordable package.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price stability, broad inventory, and high owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core Impreza appeal.
