How much does the 2018 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 3.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,135 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — 4.75/5 is a strong user rating, and the review summary points to a spacious interior, safety features, and a smooth driving experience. You also get comfortable seating and user-friendly technology, which fits the Forester’s practical, everyday-use focus. If you want a straightforward compact SUV with room, visibility, and all-weather confidence, this model year lines up well with that use case. With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also emphasizes dependable everyday use through its spacious cabin, comfortable seating, and easy-to-live-with nature. That kind of feedback suggests the Forester can be a sensible choice if you want a used SUV you can count on for routine driving. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually cheap. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the vehicle drives and shifts in everyday use. Focus on overall maintenance quality and interior wear as much as mileage, since those clues can tell you a lot about how the car was treated.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,135 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,917, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $16,232 sits slightly below last year's $16,738.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the vehicle. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance documented, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. Listings that are clean, well-kept, and priced competitively tend to move more easily in a market like this.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,685, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,232 average.
• It offers a value-focused, practical Forester package.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,772, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $16,232 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features and easier everyday tech use.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, satisfaction, and current-market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2017 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling package, the 2019 is the upgrade route to compare.
