Is the 2018 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling truck with strong performance, heavy towing capability, and a sturdy build that many drivers feel good about keeping for the long haul. The lack of major dislikes in reviews also suggests that most owners feel confident in their purchase. For used buyers, that points to manageable long-term ownership risk if you choose a well-maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 RAM 3500?

At 67.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize trucks with clean records and consistent maintenance documentation. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and overall wear that could affect long-term ownership. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you should also pay close attention to how the truck was used and whether its condition matches the mileage and asking price.

If you find a listing below $35,408, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $36,178 sits slightly below last year's $39,987.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can work against you if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. If you keep the truck in strong condition and maintain it well, you can help protect value when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a well-liked heavy-duty truck with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price environment than last year. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains a sensible target when you find a clean, well-priced example.
