CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Nissan Titan

Summary
With 1,261 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,723, 29.9% of 2018 Nissan Titan listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Nissan Titan 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Nissan Titan stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to blend strong capability with a more comfortable, well-equipped feel than many buyers might expect. It was still powered by a 5.6-liter V8, and for this generation Nissan rated it at 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The Titan also offered rear- or four-wheel drive, and its cabin was refreshed with a column-mounted shifter, a center console large enough to store a 15-inch laptop, and Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats. Standard equipment included Bluetooth phone connectivity, push-button ignition, and a back-up camera, while available features ranged from GPS navigation and SiriusXM Satellite Radio to heated-and-cooled front seats, an electronic locking rear differential, and a trailer tow package with an integrated trailer brake controller.
For 2018, the Titan’s appeal also came from its unusual mix of cab and bed choices. It was offered in single-cab and crew-cab configurations at launch, with a King Cab version arriving in late 2017, and the lineup included multiple trims across those body styles. Buyers could also choose among different bed lengths depending on cab configuration, which gave the truck more flexibility than Nissan’s earlier full-size effort. At the same time, the Titan still had some clear drawbacks: the source notes that Nissan’s full-size truck lineup lagged behind competitors in configurability, and the Titan was criticized for poor ride quality, limited bed and cab options, and plasticky interior materials. Even so, its off-road capability, comfortable interior, and decent reputation for reliability helped make it a distinctive choice in the segment.

As a 5 time Nissan buyer this is my second Titan. Too many truck owners only stick with what they know....which costs them lots of money. My last Titan is still on the road with 370,000 kms with only a power steering pump needing replacement about 3 years ago...thats it...nothing else! How many big three truck Owners can say that? I bet very few. Strong engine, strong truck, no problems.

I own a 2018 Titan SV 4x4. It currently is at 76k miles. I have driven all of the Big 3 at my job. The Titan rides better and quieter than the others. The seats are hands down more comfortable than any competitor. Fuel mileage is on par with the Big 3, except for the Ford EcoBoost. The truck will do everything you ask of it. The 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty is second to none, although Ive not needed it in the 76k miles of my trucks life. I will own another Titan after this one.

Is the 2018 Nissan Titan reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also highlights reliability, calling out the Titan as a truck owners would recommend for its dependable feel and powerful engine. That kind of owner confidence matters if you plan to keep the truck for the long haul. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific truck has been maintained over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Titan?
At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has had multiple owners or shows signs of prior bodywork. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the condition of the frame, suspension, brakes, tires, and interior wear, since those areas can reveal how hard the truck has been used. It also makes sense to compare maintenance records and overall condition closely, because a clean, well-kept Titan is likely to be a better long-term buy than one that simply looks good in photos.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Titan?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.
- Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,258 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.93% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,675, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Nissan Titan's resale value?
The current average of $21,750 sits slightly below last year's $23,120.
That price movement suggests the Titan has softened in the near term, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept trucks with clean histories should be easier to move than examples with accident records or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Titan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.93% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $19,433, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $21,750 average.
- It offers a serious truck feel with strong everyday usability.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a clean history and solid maintenance records.
