What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior damage. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the truck’s features and safety equipment work as expected. Because this is a large SUV, it’s also smart to pay close attention to how it drives at low speeds and whether the cabin shows signs of heavy family use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SV trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect, parking sensors front and rear, navigation, auto LEDs, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, roof rails, running boards, keyless entry and ignition, and a rear-view camera. The SL adds a 360-degree top-down camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, auto wipers, and 20-inch wheels. The Platinum adds ventilated front seats, a rear entertainment system, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and an Intelligent Rear View Mirror. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more safety and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive setup is rated at 16 mpg combined, and all-wheel drive reduces efficiency by 1 mpg in every column. The engine delivers 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, with strong towing ability and smooth performance when you accelerate decisively.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. It’s available on the SL and included on the Platinum, while the base SV cannot access most of these features. Lane-departure warning and intervention are reserved for the Platinum.
• Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen with HD Radio and NissanConnect, plus extra USB ports. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, and the system does not offer over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, with 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway for rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive lowers efficiency by 1 mpg in every column.

Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?

The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SV: This is the entry point, and it already brings a lot of equipment, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bose audio, navigation, parking sensors, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the more advanced safety and convenience features.
• SL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory, and auto wipers, while also unlocking the Technology Package. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort, convenience, and safety, this is the one to target.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-focused choice, with ventilated front seats, rear entertainment, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Armada experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is most worthwhile on the SL, and it comes standard on the Platinum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 948 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,533, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?

The current average of $15,533 sits slightly below last year's $17,625.

That price movement suggests the Armada has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be starting from a more favorable value position than a year ago. Still, resale will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and how well the truck’s features hold up over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and the package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV trim can’t access most of those features, and lane-departure warning and intervention are reserved for the Platinum. The expert notes also point out that the Armada’s size and blind spots make those upgrades especially important for everyday use.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan added extra standard technology for 2018, making the Armada feel more upscale and better equipped.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,975, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,533 average.
• It emphasizes a quieter, more comfort-focused cabin with upgraded materials and sound insulation.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more modern-feeling Armada, the 2018 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2017 is the value play, especially if you can find one in excellent condition.
