Is the 2018 Nissan Armada a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

You’ll see the appeal most clearly if you want a large SUV that feels more upscale than purely utilitarian. User feedback repeatedly points to spaciousness, a smooth ride, and a luxury feel, and the overview frames it as a strong fit for families and road trips. It also adds more standard technology for this year, which helps the cabin feel more feature-rich.

With 35.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights spaciousness, a smooth ride, and a luxury feel, while also pointing to a vehicle that many drivers are happy to live with over time. The expert notes also describe it as a large SUV that has been transformed into a more polished, luxury-leaning model, which supports the sense that it’s built for long-term use rather than short-term novelty.

The powertrain is a 5.6-liter V8 paired with a 7-speed automatic, and the expert notes describe it as smooth and capable, though not especially efficient. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that fuel economy and cabin noise may remain persistent tradeoffs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of body condition, repair quality, and any signs of prior damage. Because this is a large SUV with a wide spread of equipment by trim, it also makes sense to confirm that the features you want are actually present on the specific listing. Focus on how the cabin, electronics, and safety equipment were maintained, since those are the areas that most affect day-to-day ownership satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SV trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect telematics, parking sensors front and rear, navigation, auto LEDs, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, roof rails, running boards, keyless entry and ignition, and a rear-view camera. The SL adds a 360-degree top-down camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, auto wipers, and 20-inch wheels, while the Platinum adds ventilated front seats, a rear entertainment system, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and more upscale touches. The base trim can’t access most safety features, so higher trims are worth a close look if safety equipment matters to you.
• Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The expert notes say you should not expect impressive fuel economy, and AWD adds capability but also reduces efficiency. The Armada is smooth and strong, with 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, but it is not tuned for immediate low-speed punch.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, plus forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The SL trim with this package is the recommended starting point for safety, while lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum. The base SV trim misses most of these features.
• Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen with HD Radio and NissanConnect, plus extra USB ports. It also includes navigation and a 13-speaker Bose stereo. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are omitted, and the system is described as dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, with 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway in FWD form. AWD reduces each figure by 1 mpg.

Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?

The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SV: This is the entry point, and it already brings a lot of equipment, including the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, parking sensors, a Bose stereo, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the more advanced safety and convenience features.
• SL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory functions, and auto wipers. It also unlocks the Technology Package, which is where the Armada’s safety story improves meaningfully.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-focused choice, with ventilated front seats, a rear entertainment system, power-folding heated mirrors, and added safety features like lane-departure warning and intervention. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Armada and don’t mind paying for it.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the SL with the Tech Package is the place to start, while the base SV misses most of the important safety upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 970 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,637, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?

The current average of $15,675 sits slightly below last year's $17,809.

That price movement suggests the Armada has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside left than a newer, more expensive SUV. The flip side is that resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level, especially because shoppers in this segment compare value closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?

The 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and the package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, plus forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV trim can’t access most of the safety features, and lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum. That means trim choice matters a lot if safety equipment is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 adds extra standard technology and feels more upscale than a purely utilitarian SUV.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,128, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,675 average.
• It offers a more comfort-focused cabin with upgraded materials and strong sound insulation.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, more polished version, the 2018 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you value comfort over newer tech, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path.
