Summary

Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Nissan Armada 4.64 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Nissan Armada stands out as a large SUV that leans into luxury rather than ruggedness. Nissan returned to the drafting board for 2018 to add some extra technology to the standard features list, and the Armada’s updated approach gives it a more upscale feel than a simple utility vehicle. It is also based on the very capable Patrol, which helps explain why it carries a substantial presence even as its character shifts toward comfort.
That comfort-first personality is part of the Armada’s appeal, especially for buyers who want a spacious family hauler with a smooth ride and a luxury feel. The added technology broadens its appeal further, and owners often praise its roomy cabin and feature content. Its main drawback remains the same off-road capability that drew criticism before, and some drivers also mention fuel economy and road noise, particularly at lower speeds.

This car has a lot of great features. Great value. The tow package is great. I would compare to Ford Excursion.

Very roomy. Great , smooth ride! Lots of bells and whistles, easy to see out of all around. Handles well. Decent value for its group of SUVs and ranks with other luxury SUVs. Downside- dont buy it for the gas mileage although I expected worse averaging 18 city- 24 hwy - more impressive than expected. Would buy again!

Pros: Big family that loves taking road trips? This is your vehicle. Great power, very spacious, and theSL trim has most of the amenaties you are looking for. Cons: Missing Apple car play and burns gas driving around the town. Highway mileage isn’t too bad.

If you find a listing below $16,208.97, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Nissan Armada a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Nissan Armada earns a 4.64/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise the spacious cabin, smooth ride, and luxury feel, and they also like the broad feature set. That lines up with the Armada’s role as a large SUV that leans toward comfort and family use rather than a stripped-down utility vehicle.
The market also shows 27.9% good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively while still finding value.
Is the 2018 Nissan Armada reliable?
Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on spaciousness, comfort, and features. The expert notes also reinforce that this is a large SUV built for comfort-first use, with a capable underlying platform and a powertrain that supports everyday hauling and road-trip duty.
The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that satisfaction can be offset by the Armada’s fuel economy and the possibility that higher-mileage examples may have seen hard family or towing use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Nissan Armada?
At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage or lower-priced examples. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven wear, and any evidence that the SUV was used for towing or heavy family duty. Because this is a large vehicle, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SV trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, NissanConnect, parking sensors front and rear, navigation, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, heated power seats, roof rails, running boards, keyless entry and ignition, and a rear-view camera, while the SL adds a 360-degree top-down camera, leather, remote engine start, driver memory functions, and auto wipers. The Platinum adds front-seat ventilation, a rear entertainment system, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and an Intelligent Rear View Mirror.
- Powertrain: Every Armada uses a 5.6-liter V8 with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The setup is strong for towing and passing, with 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, but fuel economy is not a strength.
- Safety package: The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The base SV cannot access most of the safety features, and lane-departure warning and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror are reserved for the Platinum.
- Infotainment: The Armada uses an 8-inch touchscreen, NissanConnect, HD Radio, and extra USB ports. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
- Fuel efficiency: The Armada is rated at 16 mpg combined, 14 mpg city, and 19 mpg highway in FWD form, and AWD reduces each figure by 1 mpg.
Which 2018 Nissan Armada trim should I buy?
The 2018 Nissan Armada is offered in 3 trim levels: SV, SL, Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- SV: This is the entry point, but it still brings a strong equipment list with the 8-inch touchscreen, Bose audio, navigation, parking sensors, heated power seats, and a rear-view camera. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the more advanced safety and convenience features.
- SL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera, leather, remote start, driver memory, and the Technology Package. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort, convenience, and safety, this is the one to target.
- Platinum: This is the luxury-focused choice, adding front-seat ventilation, rear entertainment, power-folding heated mirrors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror. Choose it if you want the most upscale Armada experience and the most complete safety content.
The safety-package-equipped SL is the best starting point if you want the strongest blend of value and protection.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Nissan Armada?
The market looks moderately favorable if you are a selective buyer.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 983 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,208.97, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Nissan Armada's resale value?
The current average of $16,200 sits slightly below last year's $18,285.
That decline suggests the Armada has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may face more price pressure than they did a year ago. If you own one, strong condition and a clean history matter more now because shoppers have room to compare. Well-kept examples should still attract interest thanks to the model’s roomy cabin and comfort-first appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Nissan Armada safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The SL trim with the Tech Package is where you should start when it comes to safety, and thankfully that’s a path with a $300 discount this year, as long as you were planning on a moonroof already. It’s a shame that the base SV trim can’t access most of the safety features and that lane-departure warning and avoidance and the Intelligent Rear View Mirror only come with the Platinum as well—a vehicle this big and burdensome shouldn’t be handicapped when it comes to available safety.
The Technology Package adds adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and warning, and forward collision warning with avoidance braking front and rear. The Platinum further adds lane-departure warning and intervention, plus the Intelligent Rear View Mirror.
Crash-test evaluations have not been performed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Armada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Nissan added extra standard technology and a more upscale feel for 2018.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $14,839, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,200 average.
- It emphasizes comfort with upgraded materials and a quieter cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped, more current version, the 2018 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one in excellent condition.
