overall

Summary
With 23 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,564, 13.0% of 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.
69.6% of 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander stands out by making up for several shortcomings with up-to-date tech and safety features that modern buyers want. It is not presented as a class leader, and it rides on an old platform that can be traced back to 2005, but it still tries to stay relevant by offering the latest driver-assistance and infotainment technology.
That focus on current features is the Outlander’s main appeal. Shoppers may be willing to overlook an uninspiring interior and middling ride quality if they can connect an iPhone through Apple CarPlay. For buyers who value technology more than polish, that tradeoff gives the 2018 Outlander a clear identity.

Reviewed a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander on Mar 16, 2021
I like this car, it is a smooth ride, it looks fabulous on the inside and out. I believe it was a good value, for the money and very good miles. I really feel like I got a brand new car. The only thing missing was a restart, but I will be adding that soon. This is my 2nd Mitsubishi Outlander compared to the 2011, I can say that there are lots of improvements on body style, engine and features.

| Change vs. Last Year | −7.98% |
Prices have softened 7.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 273 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.
It is not presented as a class leader, but it does try to stay relevant with up-to-date driver-assistance and infotainment technology. If you value smartphone connectivity and modern safety features more than cabin polish or ride refinement, that tradeoff gives this model a clear identity.
32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.
Is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Outlander’s appeal is tied to practical ownership value: it offers a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and the expert review notes that it makes the most of its age by delivering features buyers want right now. That combination points to a vehicle that can make sense if you prioritize coverage and content over refinement.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the vehicle’s older platform and modest performance may feel dated sooner than newer rivals.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander?
At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior bodywork. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you are shopping.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base ES comes with 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a 7-inch touchscreen, HD radio, Bluetooth, USB, remote keyless entry, and dual-zone climate control. The SE adds fog lights, color-keyed side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a power sunroof, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, SiriusXM, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LE adds black exterior accents, power-folding side mirrors, black roof rails, black-painted wheels, a black headliner and pillars, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The SEL adds rain-sensing wipers, auto on-off headlights, chrome accents, silver roof rails, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, a power liftgate, leather seating, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The GT adds LED headlights, LED fog lights, paddle shifters, and a power sunroof.
- Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The GT uses a 3.0-liter V6 with 224 hp and 215 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic and paddle shifters. The four-cylinder is described as underpowered, and the V6 is the stronger option if you want more performance.
- Safety package: Standard safety features include a reversing camera, a full array of airbags, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, hill-start assist, and active stability control. The SEL Touring Package adds forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, LED head and fog lights, a heated steering wheel, and a 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate stereo. The GT Touring package adds forward-collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with HD radio, Bluetooth, and USB. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto arrive on the SE, and the tech setup is one of the Outlander’s main strengths.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.4-liter engine is rated at 25 mpg city, 30 highway, and 27 combined. The all-wheel-drive version is rated one mpg lower in each category, and the GT V6 is estimated at 20 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined.

What is the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?
The current average of $10,806 sits slightly below last year's $11,743.
That decline suggests the Outlander has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face continued price pressure if the market keeps favoring lower-priced listings. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more favorable entry point than owners did a year ago.
The model’s value proposition is still tied to its feature content, so examples with the right equipment and strong condition should remain easier to move than stripped or worn-out ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.98% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 model stands out for pairing an older platform with current tech and safety features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and available driver-assistance upgrades.
The bottom line: If you want the Outlander’s value-focused mix of modern tech, available safety gear, and lower used pricing, the 2018 is a sensible target. If you are shopping mainly on price, you can still find appealing listings, but you should be selective about condition and equipment so you do not give up the features that make this year worth considering.
