How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 675 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by price, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its luxurious interior, advanced technology, smooth performance, high-quality craftsmanship, and spacious cabin. The main tradeoffs are its size and high price tag, so it fits you best if you want a flagship luxury sedan with a premium feel and can live with the costs that come with it. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes a reliable-feeling ownership experience through its smooth performance, high-quality craftsmanship, and the kind of refined cabin experience that tends to keep drivers happy over time. The repeated praise for its luxurious interior and advanced technology also suggests a car that many owners feel confident living with day to day.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the driving experience and more about the cost of maintaining a large, complex luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 63.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan where repair costs can escalate quickly if something has been neglected. Focus on overall condition, service history, and signs of wear that may not match the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 675 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,761, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $33,979 sits slightly below last year's $36,828.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can work against you if you're selling soon. On the other hand, the S-Class still has strong appeal because it is a flagship luxury sedan with a premium reputation and broad buyer interest. If you keep the car in excellent condition and maintain it well, you are more likely to protect value than a neglected example would.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a well-liked flagship luxury sedan at a softer used-market price and you are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains the stronger pick when you want the best balance of owner satisfaction, market value, and available inventory.
