CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC

Summary
With 1,568 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,891, 33.7% of 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLCs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 4.69 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC stands out as a compact luxury SUV that blends style, comfort, and practicality in a way that made the nameplate successful. It is based on the contemporary C-Class sedan and wagon, and its shape is longer and sleeker than the GLK it replaced, giving it a more polished look and better everyday usefulness. Mercedes also positioned it as a five-seat SUV with a smooth, relaxing driving character rather than an off-road specialist, which helps explain its broad appeal.
For 2018, the GLC’s lineup was straightforward but varied enough to cover different buyers. The GLC 300 used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower, rear-wheel drive was standard, and 4Matic versions added all-wheel drive. The AMG GLC 43 brought a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower, while the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid combined the four-cylinder engine with an 85kW electric motor for all-wheel drive and a total system output of 320 horsepower, or 315 for later versions. All versions used a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the GLC Coupe was available for shoppers who wanted similar practicality with a more rakish profile.
The 2018 model also came well equipped, with standard features including adaptive braking, a rear-view camera, a power tailgate, and electrically adjustable front seats. That said, the GLC was not especially strong on reliability, and owners have noted suspension and electrical issues, along with piston and cylinder problems on some GLC 300 models. Even so, it remained attractive to buyers because it delivered a premium feel, strong comfort, and a lot of equipment for the money.

I love the features the car comes with, all for a reasonable value. Personally for me, the car is missing that lane departure steering wheel rumble and fog lamps would've been nice.

Comfortable ride and spacious for its class. I love the technology integrated with the vehicle. Only downside with this, however, is that Mercedes Benz does not offer CarPlay. Its not a deal breaker thought because blue tooth works just as well alongside the USB port for the media player. I traded in my 07 Targa 4 for this vehicle and do not regret it. Its been a great purchase for my family and our 4-legged fur baby.

No comparison. Like nothing I’ve ever driven or owned. I would highly recommend the Mercedes brand and especially the GLC 300 if you want an elegant SUV.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,692 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,698.42 |
| Year-Round High | $19,645.77 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $19,652 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.97% |

There are 1,578 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $17,698.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC a good car?
Yes — the 4.69/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, luxury, and build quality, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced technology features. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a premium compact SUV that emphasizes everyday practicality, a refined ride, and a well-equipped cabin. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC reliable?
Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback highlights a vehicle that feels comfortable, dependable in daily use, and well built over time. Reviewers also point to its luxury feel and strong safety performance, which supports the sense that it can be a reassuring ownership choice when maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium SUV with mixed reliability history can become expensive if prior wear or neglected maintenance is hiding underneath the surface.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC?
At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of uneven wear so you can separate a clean example from one that may cost more later.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?
The current average of $17,692 sits slightly below last year's $19,652.
That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, especially in a market where shoppers have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. Strong presentation and documented care can help your vehicle stand out when it is time to trade or sell privately.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $15,670, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,692 average.
- It offers a more performance-focused personality.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the stronger all-around shopping case, especially with softer pricing and solid owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, particularly if you find one in excellent condition and can live with its more specialized character.
