CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Summary
With 333 currently listed for sale near Orlando, FL and an average price of $19,751.00, 18.6% of 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Classes for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
61.9% of 2018 C-Class models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands out as a compact luxury sedan that blends upscale design with strong performance and a genuinely premium cabin. For this generation, Mercedes gave the car a pseudo fastback shape and dramatic front and rear styling inspired by the 2014 W222 S-Class, while also making it 220 pounds lighter than before. It remained rear-wheel drive by design, with 4Matic all-wheel drive optional, and the sedan’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivered 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. That combination helped make the car feel quick and polished without losing the refined character buyers expect from a Mercedes.
Inside, the 2018 C-Class leans heavily into luxury and technology. The cabin drew inspiration from the W222 S-Class, with finer materials, chrome and wood detailing, and a design that feels more upscale than before. It used a modest 7-inch touchscreen as standard equipment, with an 8.4-inch unit optional and later standard, and Mercedes also included multiple ways to control the system. The car’s rear seat is only average for the class, with 35.2 inches of rear legroom, and the trunk is modest at 12.6 cubic feet, so practicality is not its strongest suit. Reliability is also a mixed point for this generation, and 2018 models received below-average scores from outlets like Consumer Reports, but the C-Class still appeals because it delivers luxury, style, and performance in a package that remains relatively attainable.

Vehicle is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable, interior materials are high end and look amazing. My only issue are those 19” Continental flat run tires… They don’t offer a smooth ride and potholes are a nightmare .

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, stylish design, and impressive performance, and many also like the power and handling, especially in sport mode. With 25.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers find dependable in daily use, with praise centered on the overall ownership experience and the confidence it inspires over time. At the same time, some buyers should expect that long-term ownership risk can rise if maintenance history is incomplete or if prior wear has not been addressed carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class?
At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on bodywork quality, alignment, and signs of uneven wear. Because this model is valued for its premium feel, you should pay close attention to interior condition, electronics, and how well the car has been maintained overall.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class's resale value?
The current average of $18,862 sits slightly below last year's $20,175.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless you choose a well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, especially in a luxury segment where buyers expect a polished presentation. Strong demand for clean, well-optioned cars can still support value, but the market will reward the best examples most.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 25.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.51% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $17,738, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,862 average.
- It offers a balanced luxury-and-performance formula that made it Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling sedan.
The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market value story and are willing to inspect carefully for condition and history. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2017 is the better starting point because it undercuts the current year’s average while keeping much of the same core appeal.
