What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mazda MAZDA3?

At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Focus on the overall maintenance record and how well the car has been kept, not just the asking price.

Should I buy a 2018 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,430, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $14,767 average.
• It adds a refresh with a more polished cabin and sharper driving feel.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,931, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,767 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features and a more refined feel.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of value, owner satisfaction, and steady pricing. If your budget is tighter, the 2017 is the smarter value play, while the 2019 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling package.
