At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has a collision record or incomplete service history. Focus your condition check on the cabin, electronics, and any signs that the vehicle has been used hard or repaired poorly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 486 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,248, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $15,250 sits slightly below last year's $16,510.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and history will matter a lot, because buyers tend to reward clean examples in a model year with broad appeal. Strong demand for well-kept, well-reviewed SUVs can help support value, but you should still expect depreciation to remain part of the ownership picture.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,625, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $15,250 average.
• It offers a roomier, safer family-focused package with more polished styling.

The 2018 is the better value if you want a lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer model-year feel, the 2019 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize a more updated family SUV.
