Summary
With 69 currently listed for sale near Phoenix, AZ and an average price of $10,995, 21.7% of 2018 MINI Coopers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2018 MINI Cooper stands out for blending retro style with a playful driving character that has long defined the brand. It is a small car with a premium feel, and its appeal comes as much from personality as from practicality. MINI’s go-kart-like handling remains a major draw, and the car’s compact size makes it easy to place on the road while still feeling lively and engaging.
For this generation, the Cooper benefits from a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, and the standard version makes 134 horsepower. The Cooper S is quicker with 189 horsepower, while performance-oriented John Cooper Works versions can reach up to 302 turbocharged horsepower. The cabin also gets an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and navigation available, though those features were added-cost options, and Android Auto was not available. Buyers also get the choice of a four-door body style, which adds some practicality, but the back seat is still tight and cargo space remains restricted, especially in the Convertible.
That mix of charm, customization potential, and driving fun is what makes the 2018 MINI Cooper distinctive. It is not the roomiest or most straightforward small car, and reliability has been a recurring concern for the model line, but it offers a characterful alternative for shoppers who value style and involvement over maximum space.

It's a great little car. Reminds me of all the little old vws I drove when I was a kid. It's nice and zippy. Really fun to drive on the back roads.

Beautiful clean car deluxe package. This car would be great for a couple. Not great if a tall person is driving and you need leg room in the rear seat behind the driver. Would be a tight ride for four adults or a family with older kids. Small trunk area. I think it is a fair value.

The Mini S Cooper Clubman is a very practical & fun to drive car. For my next car, however, I may consider the MINI S 4 door hardtop, as the back hatch on the 4 door hardtop seems that it might be easier to live with than the barn doors of the Clubman.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 MINI Cooper?
At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of bodywork, uneven wear, or other condition issues that could affect long-term ownership. Because the car’s appeal depends so much on driving feel and overall presentation, focus on examples that look well cared for and mechanically sorted.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 MINI Cooper?
This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 444 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.23% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,656, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 MINI Cooper's resale value?
The current average of $14,464 sits slightly below last year's $15,262.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests future sellers may need to stay competitive when it is time to list the car again. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you improve your odds of holding value better than the average example. The model’s appeal to style-conscious shoppers can help support demand, especially for clean, well-kept listings.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.23% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $16,211, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,464 average.
- It adds a more advanced-feeling package with stronger emphasis on style and driving enjoyment.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2018 is the primary path because pricing has eased and owner satisfaction is strong. If you are willing to spend more for a newer alternative, the 2019 is the secondary path for buyers who want to compare a pricier option before deciding.
