Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Kia Stinger 4.87 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Kia Stinger stands out because it marked Kia’s move into upscale performance territory. The debuting Stinger is described as a four-door sports car, and it was presented as proof that Kia could build something far beyond an economical daily driver. That makes it distinctive right away: it is a Kia aimed at buyers who want a sportier, more premium experience than the brand’s old reputation might suggest.
What makes the 2018 Kia Stinger appealing is the combination of performance, luxury, and technology that owners consistently praise. The interior is also a highlight, with reviews pointing to an attractive cabin that helps the car feel more upscale. At the same time, there are a couple of practical drawbacks worth noting, including concerns about gas mileage and the absence of certain features such as remote start.

Love love my car! The only thing about the car that I dislike is that the 2018 year makes it so I have to plug in my phone to turn it into Apple CarPlay. It doesn’t automatically connect without the cord.

The stinger is great sports car it spunky and very, very responsive even without being in sport mode. If your decision is to modify your engine for more power your gonna need to upgrade your car from brakes and rotors to intake, spark plugs and etc, that’s how Kia kept the price point so low they gave you a basic starter kit. Also you can take your time getting mods it’s already pretty fast stock !

Pros: -Quality interior (Leather seats, heated seats, leather and dual stitching throughout, ambient lighting) -Good technology (touchscreen with Kias UI, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, or Bluetooth) -Great driving and safety features (ACC, LKA, EBS, etc.) Looks stylish -Sporty (Good HP and torque numbers) Cons: -Wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Wireless would be preferred. -Trunk rattle. Can be easily fixed with a bigger washer and YouTube tutorial.

Is the 2018 Kia Stinger a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Kia Stinger earns a 4.87/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
Owners consistently praise its blend of performance, luxury, and technology, along with the attractive interior and sporty feel. The overview also frames it as a four-door sports car that gives you a more premium experience than you might expect from Kia. With 27.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you a decent chance to find value.
Is the 2018 Kia Stinger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.87/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its performance, luxury, and technology package. The expert review also describes it as a real-deal four-door sports car with strong value, which supports the idea that it can be a satisfying long-term ownership choice if you buy a well-kept example.
If you’re shopping used, the main ownership risk is less about the concept of the car and more about how the specific example was maintained and driven.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Kia Stinger?
At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Pay close attention to body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, brake feel, and any signs that the car’s performance hardware or driver-assistance features have been stressed. Because visibility is limited by the design, it’s also worth confirming that the safety systems work properly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 2.0L trim comes with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a reversing camera, leather seating, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime head- and taillights, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual exhaust, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control. Higher trims add features such as a power moonroof, a larger touchscreen, premium audio, and more advanced driver-assistance equipment.

Which 2018 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2018 Kia Stinger is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0L, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The 2.0L gives you a strong standard feature set, but it lacks the larger 8-inch UVO screen, premium audio, and the more advanced driver-assistance features that are reserved for higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The Premium trim is the best value if you want a more upscale feel, since it adds a power moonroof, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a larger instrument display, an electronic parking brake, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
- Premium/top trim: The GT2 is the most fully equipped choice, adding a limited-slip differential, low-beam dynamic headlight assist, a power smart trunk, upgraded Nappa leather seat trim, ventilated front seats, a 16-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 12-way power front passenger seat, and a host of upgraded driver-assistance systems.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are aimed at off-road use, so there isn’t a daily-driver caution tied to that role here.
The GT2 also stands out because it’s the only trim with shift-by-wire, and it’s the only trim with standard blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Stinger?
The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.
- Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 289 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.61% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $18,933.28, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $20,336 sits slightly below last year's $20,668.
That kind of price movement suggests the model has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the key is to present a clean, well-maintained example with strong documentation, because condition will matter more when shoppers have plenty of listings to compare.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.87/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Kia Stinger safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, a child-seat anchoring system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, while those features are optional on the rest of the lineup.
One important caveat is rear visibility: the large C-pillars and sloping roof make it difficult to see behind you, so the available driver-assistance systems are especially useful.
Should I buy a 2018 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.61% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.87/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It introduced Kia’s upscale performance push with a four-door sports car formula that blends performance, luxury, and technology.
The bottom line: If you want the earliest version of Kia’s performance-leaning Stinger formula and you’re comfortable shopping carefully, the 2018 can make sense. If you’re more price-sensitive, focus on the cleanest, best-documented example you can find, since accident history and trim differences matter a lot on this model.
