overall

Summary
With 563 currently listed for sale near Orlando, FL and an average price of $19,011, 14.0% of 2018 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Jeep Wrangler 4.54 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
78.2% of 2018 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler stands out because it was thoroughly rebooted while still feeling unmistakably like a Wrangler. The review describes it as a sun-loving, rock-hopping, mud-caked happy face on four wheels, and says that after 10 years it was finally all-new for 2018. It also notes that the Wrangler has a fanatical and fiercely loyal following, which speaks to how strongly its character resonates with buyers.
For shoppers, the appeal is in the mix of improved performance, practicality, and technology, even though the Wrangler’s basic formula remains familiar. The Unlimited version is described as a solid-axle, body-on-frame four-door with no direct competitors aside from the Toyota 4Runner. That said, the same source makes clear that this is still a vehicle with a very specific personality, so buyers drawn to comfort and refinement may find its ruggedness part of the charm or part of the compromise.

The Jeep is great as they always are but I notice that since FMC and Stellantis took over, the build quality has gone down and the maintenance and repair cost rose. This is not my first jeep and that's where I get my opinions

How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,512 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,520.24 |
| Year-Round High | $23,907.38 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,910 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.03% |
Prices have softened 10.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,719 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
If you find a listing below $21,520.24, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.54/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and they also call out drivability improvements and remote start as meaningful everyday upgrades. The overview frames it as a thoroughly rebooted Wrangler that still keeps the familiar formula, so you get the classic open-air, off-road character with more modern usability. Even with that appeal, the market shows 31.6% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with recurring praise for its pep, handling, and drivability improvements. The expert review also reinforces the Wrangler’s durable, purpose-built character by describing it as a body-on-frame SUV with serious off-road hardware and strong capability. The available maintenance perk language also helps ownership feel a bit easier early on.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical charm and more about whether the vehicle has been treated carefully, since condition and prior use matter a lot on a Wrangler.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?
At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body panels, interior condition, and signs of hard use. Because this model is often bought for off-road duty, it makes sense to focus on wear that could point to abuse, poor repairs, or neglected maintenance. If possible, pay extra attention to how the cabin, controls, and removable-body hardware have held up.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport and top Rubicon use knobbier tires on smaller 17-inch rims. The Sport’s simpler setup makes it the most stripped-down choice, while the Sahara is the more polished daily-driver option.
- Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 is paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with eTorque is also available. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the familiar choice for strong everyday response.
- Safety package: The Wrangler’s safety equipment is limited, with a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. There are no driver assists beyond that, so you should not expect a broad active-safety suite.
- Infotainment: Sport models get a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The available 8.4-inch setup adds navigation, live traffic, a larger gauge-cluster display, and more connected features.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while the manual V6 is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The automatic V6 improves city driving by 1 mpg over the manual.
Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the simplest entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting price and plan to keep the truck basic.
- Sport S: This is the best-value trim if you want a more livable daily driver, since it adds the more useful convenience and tech upgrades without jumping all the way to the pricier trims.
- Sahara: This is the trim to choose if you want the most polished on-road feel, plus the nicer exterior treatment and the stronger tech setup described in the review.
- Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your priority, since it gets the more serious trail hardware and the most rugged tire setup.
The safety content also notes that driver-assist availability is limited, so even higher trims do not turn the Wrangler into a fully modern safety-tech SUV.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that the best listings should linger.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,719 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,520.24, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $21,512 sits slightly below last year's $23,910.
That decline suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you if you buy now and hold the vehicle for a while. Because the Wrangler tends to stay in demand, a well-kept example should remain easier to resell than many other SUVs in this price range. The current pricing also means your future loss may be smaller than it would be on a vehicle with a steeper depreciation curve.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited as its top “Good” for small and moderate overlap front crash tests, but “Marginal” in its side-impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration partially tested the 2018 JK for a frontal crash, where it scored three-star and two-star ratings for driver and passenger, respectively.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The Wrangler’s safety equipment is limited to a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. There are no broader driver-assistance systems beyond that, and the review also notes that the Wrangler is the only new car on sale without head curtain airbags. That makes structural and crash-protection concerns especially important for used buyers.
Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2018 model is described as thoroughly improved in performance, practicality, and technology while still staying true to the Wrangler formula.
The bottom line: The 2018 is the right pick if you want the rebooted Wrangler experience and you value its mix of classic character, improved usability, and strong owner satisfaction. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target the lower end of the market, but you should be selective about condition and history because accident-free examples are not the majority.
