How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,893 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Wranglers to compare.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.54/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and many also like the drivability improvements and features such as remote start. The overview also points to its strong off-road personality and unusual formula, which helps explain why it appeals to you if you want something more distinctive than a conventional SUV. Even with some wishes for more modern amenities, the Wrangler’s fan base clearly values its character and capability.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its drivability improvements and overall appeal. The expert notes also reinforce that this is a Wrangler built around durability and capability, with a rugged, body-on-frame setup and serious off-road hardware that should hold up well when maintained properly. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that used models are nearly as expensive because of the Wrangler’s spectacular resale value, which usually reflects strong long-term demand.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the powertrain and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been abused off-road or neglected on maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, interior condition, and signs of hard use. Because this model is often bought for off-road duty, it’s smart to focus on wear that could point to trail abuse, poor repairs, or neglected upkeep. If possible, compare several listings side by side so you can separate cosmetic issues from more serious condition concerns.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, 18-inch wheels, and a more street-tuned setup, while the Sport uses a simpler hardware set and the Rubicon rides on knobbier tires with more aggressive off-road intent. If you want the best balance of everyday livability and equipment, the Sahara is the best-value choice.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.6-liter V6 with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, plus an available turbocharged 2.0-liter four with eTorque. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the familiar choice for strong everyday response.
• Safety package: The Wrangler includes a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. The safety content also notes that no driver assists are available beyond those items, so you should not expect a broad suite of advanced aids.
• Infotainment: Sport models use a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The available 8.4-inch system adds navigation with live traffic, a seven-inch gauge display, voice controls, 4G WiFi, an onboard owner’s manual, and seven USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while the V6 manual is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The automatic V6 gains 1 mpg in city driving, and the expert also recorded 20 mpg over 515 miles with the V6.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest entry point, with the basic five-inch touchscreen and the least equipment, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to keep the build straightforward.
• Sport S: This is the trim that adds the more useful everyday tech, including the seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Sahara: This trim adds the street-tuned setup, step rails, silver accents, and 18-inch wheels, and it can be paired with the available 2.0-liter turbo and Selec-Trac system. It’s the right pick if you want a more polished daily-driver feel.
• Rubicon: This is the most off-road-focused trim, with Rock-Trac, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, an electronically disconnecting front sway bar, and 10.9 inches of ground clearance. Choose it if trail capability matters more than comfort or price.

The safety content also notes that no driver assists are available beyond a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,893 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,093, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $21,093 sits slightly below last year's $23,575.

That decline suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago, but the Wrangler still holds value well relative to many used SUVs. For a future seller, that combination usually means you may not see dramatic depreciation, especially if your vehicle is clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features. Strong demand for the Wrangler’s off-road identity and customization potential should continue to support buyer interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler scored just three stars for the driver and two stars for the passenger in the partial NHTSA frontal crash test, and the IIHS rated a Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front tests but Marginal in side-impact tests.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content makes clear that the Wrangler’s structure is the bigger concern than its electronics. You get a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts, but no broader driver-assistance suite. The lack of head curtain airbags is also a major limitation, and the expert commentary frames the vehicle as compromised from a protection standpoint compared with mainstream SUVs.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the latest model’s performance, practicality, and technology were thoroughly improved, while still preserving the Wrangler’s unmistakable character.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the rebooted Wrangler formula and you value off-road identity, resale strength, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is finding the lowest possible price, you can still shop carefully within this year, but you should be selective about condition and history because accident-free examples are not the majority.
