How much does the 2018 Honda Odyssey cost?

Prices have softened 8.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and family-friendly features, and they also frequently call out its reliability and modern design. In practical terms, that lines up well with an overview centered on a redesigned minivan that adds more features, better handling, improved versatility, and more power for family use.

With 35.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many people trust for everyday family duty, with repeated praise for reliability and a sense that it can be counted on over time. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the Odyssey as a refined, more capable family vehicle with improved handling and versatility.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is making sure the van you choose has been maintained well, since family vehicles often accumulate heavy use and wear in ways that aren’t always obvious at first glance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple vans at similar prices. Focus on condition details that matter in a family hauler: interior wear, seat operation, sliding-door function, and signs of heavy use from kids or frequent road trips.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the simplest version, with a small 5-inch infotainment screen, Bluetooth, USB input, push-button start, auto climate control, power front seats, and a reversing camera. The EX adds the features many buyers will want right away, including power-sliding rear doors, keyless ignition and entry, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, and a broader safety suite.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, and it can be paired with either a 9-speed or 10-speed automatic depending on trim. The 10-speed is described as smoother and more responsive, while the 9-speed is noted as slower to shift and rougher when it does.
• Safety package: HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX. It includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are reserved for higher trims.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 5-inch screen on the base LX and a more responsive Android Lollipop-based interface overall. Higher trims add a rear-seat entertainment setup with a 10-inch screen, plus CabinControl smartphone integration for rear passengers.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey returns 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.

Which 2018 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Odyssey, but it’s also the most stripped-down. You get the core minivan basics, yet you miss out on the features many family buyers will want immediately, including the broader safety suite and the more modern infotainment and convenience upgrades.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds power-sliding rear doors, keyless ignition and entry, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, and the HondaSense safety suite, along with useful family features like heated front seats, second-row sunshades, and Magic Slide second-row seats.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin. It adds leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a power moonroof, memory settings, USB chargers for the second row, and access to the navigation and rear entertainment systems.
• Touring: This trim is for you if you want the more premium family-hauler setup. It adds LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot capability, parking sensors front and rear, and the integrated vacuum system.
• Elite: This is the top-tier choice if you want the most comfort and convenience. It builds on Touring with 19-inch alloys, acoustic glass, front-seat ventilation, a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, and a 550-watt, 11-speaker stereo.

The safety package is standard on every trim other than the base LX, so if you want the strongest mix of value and equipment, the EX is the trim most buyers should start with.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,220 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,473, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $19,473 sits slightly below last year's $21,224.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the van in good condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA test other than a four-star rollover rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, and it brings blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are limited to higher trims.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 8.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned package with more features, better handling, improved versatility, and more power.

The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of this generation’s Odyssey formula, the 2018 is the one to target. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than the newest badge alone.
