What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Genesis G80?

At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower asking price. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s luxury features and electronics are functioning as expected. If you want the best ownership experience, pay close attention to how well the cabin, suspension, and tech systems have aged.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport trim comes fully equipped, with adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, heated seats front and rear with ventilated sport fronts, a head-up display, a multi-view camera, and a hands-free trunk lid. It also adds a reworked exterior and unique interior trim, while lower trims miss some of these features.
• Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbo, 3.3-liter V6, and the expert evaluation says it delivers strong acceleration with better driveability and fuel economy than the V8 alternative.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes parking sensors front and rear, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, adaptive cruise, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto-brake. Some of these features were optional on lower trims.
• Infotainment: You get a 9.2-inch touchscreen, Genesis Connected Services, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a 14-speaker Lexicon stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation cites an EPA estimate of 17 mpg city, 25 highway, 20 combined.

Which 2018 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2018 Genesis G80 is offered in 1 trim level: Sport.

Here's the short version:

The Sport is the clear choice because it bundles the strongest equipment list, the twin-turbo V6, and the most complete tech and safety content. It also stands out as the best-value trim because so much comes standard, including the premium audio system, larger touchscreen, and advanced driver-assistance features. If you want the most complete version of this model year, this is the one to target.

The safety package note is straightforward: the standard driver-assistance suite is already extensive, so you do not need to climb the trim ladder to get the core safety tech.

What is the 2018 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $18,677 sits slightly below last year's $19,064.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may temper what you can expect later as a seller. The current trend also implies that well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, since value-oriented luxury sedans tend to reward condition and equipment. Should I buy a 2018 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 adds a more performance-focused Sport trim with a twin-turbo V6 and adaptive suspension.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,686, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,677 average.
• It offers a distinctive luxury-sedan design with a strong value impression.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2018 is the better target because it adds more performance, more standard equipment, and strong safety credentials. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers a premium-feeling sedan.
