CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Dodge Durango
overall

Summary
With 102 currently listed for sale near San Diego, CA and an average price of $16,555.00, 21.6% of 2018 Dodge Durangos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Dodge Durango 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
75.5% of 2018 Durango models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Durango stands out as a family-sized SUV with a performance edge. A new SRT trim gives it a more athletic personality, and the added 475 hp makes this three-row crossover feel especially serious about speed. That combination is unusual in a vehicle aimed at hauling people and cargo, which is a big part of what makes this Durango distinctive.
It also gained a more modern tech setup for the year. Standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay arrive on the Durango, along with a standard reversing camera and a new 7-inch touchscreen. Those updates make the 2018 model easier to live with day to day, especially for buyers who want a practical SUV that still feels up to date inside.
At the same time, the Durango’s appeal is not just about equipment. The owner feedback points to a spacious interior, strong performance, and family-friendly usefulness, while also noting that some lower trims can feel basic and that purchase costs may be high. That balance helps define the 2018 Dodge Durango: it is a roomy, capable SUV that tries to blend everyday utility with a more muscular character than many rivals.

I LOVE everything about this suv. I needed something with 3 rows because kids, but I didn’t want to settle for a “mom” van. The dvd entertainment is amazing, especially for the kids. I can drive peacefully and even have actual conversations with my husband instead of getting interrupted by my kids 5 times in a minute, because they’re busy watching movies. The heated seats and steering wheel is another plus. It’s drives amazing. I am seriously in love with my Dodge Durango r/t. I wouldn’t change a thing about it

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Durango?
At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-trim or more heavily optioned example. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and evidence of prior bodywork or electrical issues, since the best used Durango is the one whose history matches its asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base versions start with a 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, while higher trims add features like leather upholstery, heated seats, a power liftgate, an upgraded infotainment system, and more luxury equipment. Lower trims can feel basic, so you should compare equipment carefully before deciding.
- Powertrain: The lineup includes a 293-hp V6, a 360-hp V8, and a 475-hp V8. The V6 is efficient for the class and offers strong towing, while the V8s bring more muscle and stronger towing capability.
- Safety package: A Technology package adds adaptive cruise with auto braking and brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning. Some advanced safety systems are not standard, even on higher trims.
- Infotainment: You get a standard 7-inch touchscreen, standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a reversing camera. The interface is described as responsive, and the setup helps you avoid relying on built-in navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city and 26 highway, while the 5.7-liter V8 returns 14 mpg city and 22 highway. The 6.4-liter V8 is estimated at 13 mpg city and 19 highway.
Which 2018 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?
The 2018 Dodge Durango is offered in 6 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT.

- SXT Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete daily-driver setup. It adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar, roof rails, and a rear park-assist system.
- GT: This trim adds more comfort and convenience with a power liftgate, remote start, leather upholstery, a 115-volt outlet, 20-inch alloys, heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, driver memory settings, and rear parking sensors.

Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.30% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a standard reversing camera, and a new 7-inch touchscreen.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $14,920, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,879 average.
- It focuses on family-hauling utility and strong towing ability.
The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more modern-feeling Durango, the 2018 is the stronger buy. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path, especially if you can find one in good condition with the features you need.
