CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 1,565 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,074.00, 27.9% of 2018 Dodge Challengers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Dodge Challenger 4.71 / 5 stars.
58.0% of 2018 Challenger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Challenger stands out as a muscle car that blends old-school attitude with everyday usability. It is a five-passenger coupe with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that includes a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, which helps make it a fairly practical choice even in performance-oriented versions. The Challenger also offers a wide range of powertrains, transmissions, and special editions, so buyers could tailor it toward either entry-level affordability or serious straight-line performance.
What makes the 2018 model especially appealing is the breadth of its personality. The Challenger’s available Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, along with manual and automatic transmissions, give it a broad performance spread, and features such as adaptive suspension, launch control, Brembo brakes, and Mopar tuning options reinforce its enthusiast appeal. It also has the kind of visual drama muscle-car shoppers expect, with standout colors, special-edition badging, spoilers, hood scoops, and unique grille and fascia designs. Widebody variations were offered for some trims in 2019 and 2020, so that styling cue does not apply to the 2018 model year.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and weight can work against it, and some owners note fuel economy and modest amenities in certain models as drawbacks. Still, for buyers who want a distinctive American coupe with strong performance potential, a roomy cabin, and a long list of configurations, the 2018 Dodge Challenger remains one of the most characterful choices in its class.

I love this car it’s what I’ve always wanted a factory hot rod. Buy em now they aren’t making them anymore.. 2018 dodge upgraded the touch screen, this one’s nice big and clear. Back up beepers and blind spot lights on the mirror huge plus. The thing I found I don’t like is I would like a gear indicator on the dash sometimes you’ll miss one. I’m new to this 6 speed. It’s a blast to drive!

Is the 2018 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes that the car feels dependable in the ways that matter to shoppers who want a satisfying ownership experience over time. Praise for its performance, comfort, and style suggests many buyers feel confident living with it beyond the initial purchase. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, especially one that has been driven hard or neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?
At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s wear matches its mileage and performance use. If you’re shopping a higher-output version, pay extra attention to how the car was maintained and whether it shows evidence of hard driving.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Challenger?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,645 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.74% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,341.79, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $23,054 sits slightly below last year's $24,459.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays cool. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter more because buyers will compare your car against a broad pool of similarly priced listings. A well-kept example should still hold attention, especially if it stands out on equipment, mileage, or appearance.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $20,295, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $23,054 average.
- It leans harder into retro muscle-car character.
The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and inventory. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better value path, especially if its retro personality matters more than newer-market pricing.
