What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW M5?

At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of inconsistent wear or repair. Because this is a high-performance luxury sedan, condition matters as much as mileage, so focus on how well the car has been maintained and whether it shows evidence of hard use.

Should I buy a 2018 BMW M5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 BMW M5 makes the most sense if you want the core sixth-generation M5 formula: huge performance, luxury, and everyday usability in one package.
