CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Audi Q7

Summary
With 1,642 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,512, 34.2% of 2018 Audi Q7s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Audi Q7 4.9 / 5 stars.
72.0% of 2018 Q7 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Audi Q7 stands out as a three-row luxury SUV that blends clean design, strong road manners, and a premium-feeling cabin. Audi’s second-generation Q7 was redesigned for 2017, and for this model year it offered Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels, along with a choice of two engines. The turbocharged 252-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder made the Q7 more affordable, while the turbocharged 333-hp 3.0-liter V6 was the stronger choice and also enabled 7,700 pounds of towing capacity. It was also instantly recognizable as an Audi, with a cleaner, more angular look, matrix-design LED headlights, signature daytime running lights, and a power-folding panoramic sunroof.
Inside, the 2018 Q7 emphasized comfort and utility. Every Q7 had three rows of seats, with comfortable and spacious front and second rows, while the third row was smaller and best reserved for children. Cargo room measured 14.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 37.5 cubic feet with that row folded, and 69.6 cubic feet at maximum. The cabin also brought a more advanced tech setup than the previous Q7, including Audi Virtual Cockpit and, with the Navigation Plus package, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Owners also praised the vehicle’s mix of luxury, space, and performance, though some noted that it felt smaller than previous models, which could limit storage options.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The base turbo four did not provide enough power and had to work hard, which hurt fuel economy, and the Q7 required premium fuel. Still, for buyers who want a refined midsize luxury SUV with good driving dynamics, useful towing ability, and a well-equipped interior, the 2018 Audi Q7 remains appealing.

As a former Porsche Cayenne S owner, having a fully loaded vehicle is important to me. The Audi Q7 checks all of the boxes for the 2018 model! Great technology, comfort, and performance all wrapped up into this model year. True 7 passenger seating to boot. Great way to avoid steep depreciation on this vehicle investigating a three year old spec. Compare to the BMW X5 and you wont be disappointed!

So far, it’s an excellent vehicle with loads to offer a family. I think if we had to have just one vehicle it would be this or the sq7, if I had to give up my fun vehicle. Beautiful design inside and out, buttery smooth transition. Audi quality. Advanced tech and safety features. Traded in our Audi S3 for this since our family is growing.

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently highlight the Q7’s mix of luxury, space, and performance, and many appreciate the roomy interior and advanced technology. The three-row layout also makes it a practical fit if you want a premium SUV for family use. Is the 2018 Audi Q7 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on the vehicle’s luxury, space, and performance. That kind of positive long-term sentiment matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the Q7 has earned trust from people living with it day to day. For you, the main ownership risk is making sure a used example has been well maintained and checked carefully before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Audi Q7?
At 71.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with past damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced listing. Focus your condition check on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, and any wear that suggests the SUV has had a harder life than the listing photos imply.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Audi Q7?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,632 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,480, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Audi Q7's resale value?
The current average of $16,484 sits slightly below last year's $18,881.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance history than to broad market momentum. If you keep the SUV clean, documented, and accident-free, you give yourself a better chance of standing out when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $14,478, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,484 average.
- It brings a redesigned return with more interior space and a lighter body.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market value story and broad owner approval. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the better price-first alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
