Is the 2017 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2017 Volvo S60 stands out as a compact luxury sedan that blends Scandinavian style with a strong emphasis on safety and comfort. It offers a well-rounded cabin with high-quality materials, logical controls, and a restrained aesthetic, while the front seats are a clear strength. If you want a premium sedan that prioritizes refinement, safety, and everyday usability over outright sportiness, this model fits that brief well. There are 35.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2017 Volvo S60 leans on Volvo’s core strengths: safety, comfort, and understated style. It also comes standard with City Safety, and the car earned best-in-class crash ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s core mission and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volvo S60?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put the inspection focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of inconsistent wear, then make sure the cabin and seats still reflect the car’s premium feel. Because this model’s appeal is tied to comfort and refinement, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing used examples.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volvo S60?

What is the 2017 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $12,106 sits slightly below last year's $13,082.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of further depreciation. The model’s appeal is still anchored by safety, comfort, and a premium cabin, which helps support steady demand among shoppers looking for a distinctive compact luxury sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want the strongest mix of current pricing, safety-focused luxury, and owner satisfaction in this range. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is the better primary target when you want a well-rounded used luxury sedan with a softer market and solid demand.
