How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI cost?

There are 73 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and it lines up with the Jetta GLI’s appeal as a practical compact sedan with a sportier personality. The overview points to a car that blends everyday usability with enthusiast-focused hardware, including aggressive styling, a limited-slip differential, bigger brakes, and a lower ride height. It also comes with useful standard tech and driver-assistance features, which makes it easier to live with as a daily driver. 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview also notes that this model carries a less-than-stellar reputation for reliability and maintenance costs that are higher than those of Japanese or domestic rivals. For used buyers, that means you should plan for a car that can be rewarding to own, but one where upkeep and condition matter more than they might on a simpler commuter sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI?

At 49.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body alignment, suspension condition, brake wear, and signs of uneven tire wear, since those can reveal how the car was driven and repaired. Because this is a sportier sedan, pay close attention to overall condition and maintenance records rather than just mileage.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI's resale value?

The current average of $13,219 sits slightly above last year's $12,851.

That upward move suggests the market has held steady enough to support value retention, especially for clean examples with good history. If you buy carefully and keep maintenance records, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. Strong condition matters here because shoppers in this segment tend to compare both price and overall presentation closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.86% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a smart pick if you want the GLI’s sporty character, useful tech, and practical sedan layout without stretching too far on price. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
