Is the 2017 Toyota Avalon a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating suggests you can feel confident considering it if you want a well-liked used sedan. That kind of score points to broad owner satisfaction, which matters when you're weighing comfort, features, and day-to-day livability.

With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2017 Toyota Avalon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

That kind of feedback suggests the car has a solid reputation among people who live with it every day, which can reduce the odds of unpleasant surprises for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Avalon?

At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair. If a car looks especially clean on paper, make sure its condition matches the listing photos and service records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Avalon?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,207, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Avalon's resale value?

The current average of $18,270 sits slightly below last year's $19,052.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays steady. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot, especially because buyers tend to reward clean history and strong presentation. A well-kept example should still hold appeal, but you should not expect rapid appreciation from today’s pricing trend.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,246, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $18,270 average.
• It adds a refreshed design and updated cabin tech.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If you're more price-sensitive, the 2016 is the better path because it undercuts the current year while still offering a refreshed package.
