Is the 2017 Tesla Model S a good car?

Yes — the 4.73/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. That lines up well if you want a luxury electric sedan with a futuristic cabin, strong acceleration, and a distinctive design that stands apart from conventional sedans. With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Tesla Model S reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also highlights a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value the car’s long-term appeal and technology-forward character. At the same time, some owners mention concerns about range and resale value tied to multiple owners in a short period, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and prior ownership patterns. For long-term ownership risk, the safest approach is to verify condition carefully and focus on well-documented examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then confirm whether the car has had any prior damage, repeated ownership changes, or signs of inconsistent care. A thorough inspection should focus on overall condition, software and equipment functionality, and any clues that the car has been used heavily or repaired poorly. Because this model’s appeal depends so much on technology and condition, the best listings are the ones with clean records and clear documentation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Tesla Model S?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 434 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,513, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $21,342 sits slightly below last year's $21,855.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong condition and clean history matter even more when the market is moving down.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the Model S formula at a price that has eased a bit and you value the car’s tech-forward, long-range character. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented listing rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
