Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, ownership pattern, and any red flags tied to the car’s past. Pay close attention to how the car presents inside and out, since condition is a major part of getting the best value on a Model S.

Should I buy a 2017 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is a strong place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced listing rather than the model year alone.
