Is the 2017 Subaru Outback a good car?

Is the 2017 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability alongside safety, spaciousness, and comfort, which suggests this model has earned trust from people living with it day to day. Drivers also describe it as dependable and capable in varied conditions, reinforcing its appeal for long-term ownership. For used buyers, that kind of reputation can reduce worry about committing to a higher-mileage example, though condition still matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Outback?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if a listing looks unusually cheap. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for bodywork quality, mechanical wear, and signs of poor repairs. Focus on overall condition, since accident history and maintenance quality can matter more than mileage alone.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can temper resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the Outback's practical reputation and broad appeal help support demand among shoppers looking for space, safety, and all-weather capability. If you maintain the vehicle well and keep records, you can help protect its value better than a neglected example would.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

Consider the 2018 if:
