How much does the 2017 Subaru Legacy cost?

There are 604 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Subaru Legacy earns a 5/5 user rating, which is a strong sign that owners are very satisfied with it. Owners consistently praise its all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, comfortable interior, and user-friendly technology. That lines up well with the Legacy’s role as a practical midsize sedan for buyers who want confidence in poor weather, everyday comfort, and useful features without paying for flash. With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, especially for buyers who value all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency, and a car they can count on day to day. The emphasis on long-term satisfaction suggests the Legacy fits shoppers who want a sensible sedan they can keep for years. For used buyers, that kind of reputation can reduce ownership risk, though condition and maintenance history still matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past collision issues. It also makes sense to prioritize overall condition and maintenance records, since a clean, well-kept example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 604 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,271, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $12,946 sits slightly below last year's $13,290.

That tells you the market has softened, which can make the car a little less expensive to buy now but also suggests future resale gains may be modest. If you plan to sell later, a lower entry price can help offset some depreciation, but you should still expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2017 Legacy makes the most sense if you want a well-liked, value-oriented midsize sedan with standard all-wheel drive and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is a strong primary target when you want a balance of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and broad inventory.
