Is the 2017 Nissan Rogue reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many drivers, especially around comfort, value, and everyday usefulness. The same reviews also point to some transmission concerns, so reliability looks strongest when you find a well-maintained example with clean service history. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is avoiding a Rogue with unresolved CVT-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Rogue?

At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven panel gaps, and any transmission-related symptoms during the test drive. Because condition varies widely, the best examples are the ones with clean records, consistent maintenance, and no warning signs in how they drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what to look for.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,633 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,535, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $11,535 sits slightly below last year's $12,044.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, especially because buyers tend to reward clean, well-kept examples. A Rogue that presents well and has documented care should hold up better than one with visible wear or unresolved mechanical concerns.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $12,476, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $11,535 average.
• It adds automated driver assists that broaden its safety-tech appeal.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if your priority is value, especially since pricing has eased and there are plenty of listings to compare. If you want newer safety tech and can stretch your budget, the 2018 is the better secondary path; if not, the 2017 remains the smarter price-sensitive buy.
