How much does the 2017 Nissan Maxima cost?

There are 828 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Nissan Maxima a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Nissan Maxima earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its stylish design, blend of luxury and sportiness, and impressive performance, while also highlighting the smooth ride and ample features. It also fits well if you want a comfortable daily driver with a more upscale personality than many mainstream sedans. With 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 Nissan Maxima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable and enjoyable over time, especially because they value its smooth ride and strong feature set. That said, some shoppers do mention concerns about value and a wish for more features, so you should still judge each used example on its condition and maintenance history. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that looks good on paper but has been neglected or priced above its condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Nissan Maxima?

At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate you’re serious about, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection before you commit. Focus closely on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s features and driving feel match the seller’s description. Because this model year can attract shoppers for its style and equipment, condition matters a lot when you compare one listing against another.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Nissan Maxima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 828 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,720, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Nissan Maxima's resale value?

The current average of $12,720 sits slightly below last year's $14,217.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value over time. A well-kept example should be easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Nissan Maxima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,715, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $12,720 average.
• It emphasizes styling and broad appeal for buyers who like its design.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better all-around pick if you want the stronger market mix of price, satisfaction, and current availability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2016 can make sense as a lower-cost alternative, but you should be prepared to trade some of the 2017’s market appeal for savings.
